Overview

Although there are so many trip-hop outfits from the Bristol area, Crustation proves there's room for yet one more with this intriguing collaboration featuring Irish poet/singer Bronagh Slevin. The album focuses on the ambient and dub side of trip-hop, with an overwhelmingly apparent studio prowess that leaves many bedroom boffins in the dust. Slevin proves an integral part of the proceedings as well, and her inspirations (Sinead O'Connor, Suzanne Vega) provide a vivid counterpoint to the aural molasses cooked up by Crustation. ~ John Bush
