About the Author

Joseph Platko was raised in rural Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, he worked several jobs, including apprenticing in a mom and pop store as a meat cutter, before he attended college and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He then went on to earn a M.S. degree in Immunology and a Ph.D. in Pathology. After graduating, he held a NIH fellowship and became a Research Associate before he exited the field and began to write in earnest. His first book, Bloom, was published on line just before his children left the nest. The author writes from his home in New England, where he lives with his wife and is frequently joined by two cats that love to chew on his laptop.
