I read this book from the recommendation of Ron Paul in his suggested reading list at the end of 'The Revolution'. I was not disappointed. You will learn the historical impact the American empire has had around the world. When neo-cons argue with you that we should bomb [insert foreign country] you will have all the facts to dispell their myths that 'they hate us for our freedoms'. And you will be able to argue in an educated manner that bombing others only makes us less safe at home. Great book!

The die hard Bushies, or anybody else who falsely believes the path were on is not endangering ourselves even more, needs to read this book!! To continue along the path we are paving now is suicide in all respects of the word!! A creepy read considering it was first published prior to 9/11!! Read it!!

Good read, granted it's partisan but then again Mr.Johnson does present some interesting case history here.

Did someone say extreme liberal? Through his writings, Chalmers Johnson shows the United States what is wrong with the world: opinions like his. Why not illuminate on the 'good' the U.S. has contributed around the world to balance out the 'bad'? Quite frankly, Mr. Johnson cannot do this because the good would outweigh the bad...and, oh yeah...he's an extreme liberal.

Johnson rightly examines the unintentioned effects of American foreign policy. Keeping in mind that this book was originally written pre-9/11, his observations concerning Osama Bin-Laden are eerie. The book causes the reader to wonder what will be the consequences (blowback) of Bush's current foreign policy and war in Iraq.

No venom-just the facts.(Very refreshing!) It presents not only the situations but the whys and wherefores of them, including how historical factors play(ed) into them. It also seemed to be relatively fair sided. (An interesting weave.)

Overview
Now with a new and up-to-date Introduction by the author, the bestselling account of the effect of American global policies, hailed as “brilliant and iconoclastic” (Los Angeles Times)
The term “blowback,” invented by the CIA, refers to the unintended results of American actions abroad. In this incisive and controversial book, Chalmers Johnson lays out in vivid detail the dangers faced by our overextended empire, which insists on projecting its military power to every corner of the earth and using American capital and markets to force global economic integration on its own terms. From a case of rape by U.S. servicemen ...
