Overview

Once upon a time, Ronald Reagan was a Republican leader so charismatic he won over an entire segment of “Reagan Democrats.” Today, the Republican party can barely muster its own base. Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum provides a game plan for Republicans to bounce back, regain popularity, and return to the party’s original values: the solution rests on rediscovering blue collar conservatives.

In 2012, a mass of blue collar voters, enough to have tipped the balance of the electoral college in favor of the Republican candidate, simply stayed home on election day. Why? Despite their deeply conservative values, they had lost faith that the Republicans spoke for them and had their backs. In Blue Collar Conservatives, Rick Santorum calls for the GOP to get back in touch with this base. Enough with pandering, enough with focusing on business owners to the exclusion of everyone else – the vast majority of Americans – who work for them. Republicans need to regain the trust of the hard-working members of every family, church, and community across America whose most immediate problems are lack of jobs and opportunity.

This inspiring and challenging new book is sure to make a splash this mid-election year and beyond.

Meet the Author

Rick Santorum, a native of Pennsylvania, was a candidate for the Republican nomination for president of the United States in 2012 and became known as a voice for conservatives who didn’t feel they were being represented. In June 2012 he launched Patriot Voices, a grassroots and online community of Americans committed to promoting faith, family, freedom, and opportunity. Prior to running for president,
Santorum served in the House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995, and in the Senate from 1995 to 2007, where he was known as one of the most successful government reformers in our history. An accomplished author, Santorum penned the 2005 New York Times bestseller It Takes a Family.

Rick Santorum is "right on" about how many workers perceive that they have been "left behind" by the liberal Democrats whose solutions are government handouts and by most conservatives and Republicans who appealed to big business, the rich, and entrepreneurs. It is not Barack Obama who can produce "hope and change"--it is Rick Santorum! I think that so many Americans who have been convinced by the political rhetoric of liberal Democrats and the failure of many conservatives and Republicans to address struggling working class and middle class people that although conservatives and Republicans may be "on the right track" concerning social/moral issues, "the Republican party is the party of the rich" need to read BLUE COLLAR CONSERVATIVES, and they AND the Republican party need to take Rick Santorum seriously!

Blue Collar Conservatives is the game plan I've been waiting to see. The Republican party would do well to read Senator Santorum's simple yet promising ideas to save our country, one blue collar conservative at a time. Don't be surprised, though, when you see that this is much more than a book about middle income jobs. Senator Santorum eloquently explains how family is our first economy, and "family makes us stronger." He details why the social programs of today are harming, not helping, struggling families and why the Affordable Care Act is not the answer to health care woes. For those who don't know, Senator Santorum was responsible for initiating the first health savings account bill, so he speaks with authority. Blue Collar Conservatives is the game plan I've longed for, so I want to say "Game on!"

Obamacare, the issue of the ages. I never thought one man could bring down America, its traditions and its values in two short Presidential terms, but I now feel that Obamacare AKA: “Affordable Care Act” just may be the last nail in the coffin. However, America has seen trouble times in the past and has always risen above them. The Civil War, WWII and the former Soviet Union deemed “The Evil Empire”. We rose above them with the leadership from the right people at the right times. Rick Santorum is just the leader we need now to repeal and replace Obamacare before it fully takes root. As stated in “Blue Collar Conservative” chapter entitled “Replace Obamacare Before it’s Too Late” Rick Santorum states “The promise of healthcare for all provided by the largesse of the federal government will not make us stronger. It will lead to less innovation and fewer cures… less choice of caregivers, longer lines, higher cost and lower quality medicine than a private system”. The problem isn’t health care cost or access it’s an ever growing burden of federal control. Rick Santorum states “Prior to Obama’s taking office in 2009, nearly half of the payments for medical care in this country were already made by either federal, state or local government”. So the answer to better care being more accessible and more affordable is to replace Obamacare and remove the already burdensome controls of the federal government. One thing is for sure, that won’t happen under a Hillary Administration. It will take a grass roots constitutional conservative who holds to traditional American values and has the strength of character to forge a new path.  The Progressive Liberals want to push us toward a top down Western European system that is failing. Rick Santorum, as a former US Senator, introduced Health Care Savings Accounts, supported a block grant system allowing states more flexibility in Medicare, allow states to provide “High Risk Pools” and sell insurance across state lines. Read “Blue Collar Conservative” and catch a vision for better health care and a stronger America.

In a bold move Senator Rick Santorum takes the reins of the Republican Party’s Stigma identity and serves up a New Direction that GOP leaders across the Nation must embrace or continue to hail nothing but continued failed elections on the National level. The title of the book and content are not what’s expected. The meat drives home the failings of allowing the Democrat Party to control and shape the economic policies that drives the lives of all those who WORK for a living. Senator Rick Santorum appears to be on a mission to actually do something that has never been done. Rebrand, Restore, Recalculate the minds of those that already hold office and prepare to hold office. After reading Blue Collar Conservatives I believe that Senator Santorum fully embraces the full spectrum of All Americans at every income level without thinking less of or condemning the poor and without simply celebrating the wealth of the privileged. It is more of a love of all Americans and a desire to bridge and unite a country that has been greatly divided by class warfare. Val sommerville

I liked Santorum in 2012, but thought he was not quite "ready for Prime-Time." Now, I see that he has blossomed out into a fully-rounded leader and has deeply thought-through positions on most of the issues that would confront a president. And - all without compromising his principles that had been so refreshing and honest. His thinking and views are the kind of change we really need in America. I would recommend this book - and, Santorum highly. We need men like him in leadership to turn this nation around.
