Blue Suede Shoes

Barnes & Noble - Moira McCormick
They've done it with the Beatles and the Beach Boys. Now the fine folks over at the groundbreaking kids' label Music for Little People have come up with an album's worth of tunes made famous by Elvis Presley and -- like its predecessors -- sung by kids. Nearly a half-century old, these rockabilly and fledgling rock-'n'-roll classics are as hip-shaking and feet-motivating as they were back then, though not even remotely as controversial it's hard to believe this was the stuff that had the straitlaced set up in arms. Producer Dennis Scott, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and sometime kids' performer, has assembled a zesty group of child vocalists, who do the King ...

Producer Dennis Scott, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and sometime kids' performer, has assembled a zesty group of child vocalists, who do the King proud on numbers such as "Hound Dog," "Shake, Rattle and Roll," and "Jailhouse Rock." They even resurrect "Heartbreak Hotel," complete with hiccuping vocals, not to mention "All Shook Up" and "Baby Let's Play House" fret not, parents: The one truly suggestive line in that last one has been changed to make it child-friendly. Then, of course, there's the spirited title track, a freewheeling anthem that never loses its dash. Blue Suede Shoes is a nifty introduction to the Pelvis for young kids, and the older ones -- if they don't find it all too quaint -- may even find themselves singing along.

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
Blue Suede Shoes: Elvis Songs for Kids collects a dozen Elvis Presley classics performed by children, including "Hound Dog," "Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear," "Shake Rattle and Roll," and "Jailhouse Rock." Though the originals of most of these songs would be appropriate for children anyway, this album provides a lighthearted twist on some of Presley's best-known songs.

    Great Sing Along Tunes

My 4 year old daughter loves this CD. The songs are easy to follow and learing the words is fun.
