Blues in the Night

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Steve Leggett
Blues in the Night is a sampler of mainstream, edges-off contemporary blues cuts, most of which stay fairly low-key. Charles Brown's "Black Night" has a jazzy elegance, Wilson Pickett's tale of regret and struggle, "It's Harder Now," feels like a classic, and Aretha Franklin can't keep the gospel out of "Nobody Knows the Way I Feel This Morning," which is good for the listener, since almost everything else here falls to the weary side of the spectrum, making it, perhaps, the perfect after-hours blues chillout album.
