    A WORTHWHILE READ!

I cannot remember when last had I enjoyed a good romance as much as I did this one. “Bluesday” is a truly beautiful and inspiring love story - the kind of book you can read through in one relaxing evening and enjoy every moment thereof. Set in the African-American community, this book is delightfully unique and highly informative about their culture. I really liked the characters and found it refreshing that the two main characters are not the usual stereotypical blue-eyed blonde girl and tall, dark and handsome boy. From Mamma, the strict family matriarch to the more modern Bobby and the two amusing granddaughters; I was quite sad to say good bye to them at the end of the story. “Bluesday” is not only a love story, but also a tale of healing and overcoming tribulations such as alcoholism, bitterness, guilt and dealing with the harsh realities thereof. The romantic relationship between the main characters is truly beautiful and tastefully described, but of course, not without a few complications. It was refreshing to read a love story where the emphasis is on the love between the characters rather than the possible conflict they might experience. Of course there are also moments of suspense - not the blazing guns type, but the type where you wonder whether the love between the main characters will survive the odds. The dialogue is engaging and extremely well written with subtle humor in all the right places. I would highly recommend this attractively written romance to anybody who loves a good, gentle love story and I happily give “Bluesday” a 5 star rating, hoping that we will see more books similar to this one from Adrienne Thompson in the near future. Blues After Hours

"Nobody knows you when you down and out
In my pocket not one penny" - Mamie Smith

Blues singer Bobbie 'BluAnn' Brooks sings the blues for her audience every night, but she never thought she would be singing the blues for herself. After her husband, Clyde, leaves her heartbroken and penniless, Bobbie decides to get her life back on track. She realizes she has to deal with her past demons before she is able to embrace the future.

I read "Bluesday" by Adrienne Thompson in a few hours. "Bluesday" touched my heart so much I shed a few tears while reading it. I love when an author is able to write about RAW emotions and have it grab hold of the reader's heart. The author touched on subjects such as strength, courage, and the love we have within.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a book that has a believable storyline and characters. Side Note: As a music fan of all genres, I love how the author titled each chapter after a famous blues song.

    Very well written

I was not sure what to expect from this book when I first started reading it but I must say that it is a great book to read. The writer draws you into Bobbie's world and show us that no matter what people may see on the outside, there are truly things on the inside that could be eating us alive. Thanks for allowing me to take this wonderful journey with her through all the pain, sorrows, regrets and most of all the joyous outcome that she truly deserved.
