Beyond adorable…I was shocked when I read the opening couple of paragraphs of this book (how Bo was injured) and my heart went out to him. How wonderful that he was adopted by such a loving and patient family! Although he is a dog, the story of Bo and his transformation can resonate with almost anyone who has gone through a rough ordeal and come out the other side better for it. And the friendship he strikes up with the cat Ms. Beanz is just about the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. If you don’t positively love this story and its amazing pictures then you have a heart of stone. GREAT book for children, most highly recommended. Easy to read.

I read this book with my five year old and now she is begging to get a dog just like Bo! I can’t blame her one bit, I fell in love with him too! It was wonderful to read how he came from a neglected home but learned to trust and love again. And his relationship with Ms. Beanz is just too precious! If dogs and cats can earn to get a long and enjoy each other’s company, despite their differences, so can people, right? Two different creatures bound by an obvious affection for each other captured in the ‘too cute for words’ pictures made me totally fall in love with this book. Give it a read – I promise you’ll fall in love with it too!

Stole my heart -- simply wonderful!

A short chapter and picture book geared towards younger readers (the description says ages 7 and up, but I think even younger can enjoy), this book provides a wonderful narrative alongside some truly heart melting pictures of the beloved dog Bo and his sidekick, Ms. Beanz. I really liked how interactive the book was, meaning there were several strategic questions presented throughout that opened the gateway for some great dialogue with my son as he read the story with me. Wonderful conversation starter about animal behaviors and interactions, and also human behavior and reactions to events. I positively loved everything about this story, from the pictures to the storyline to the wonderful messages it delivered. Thank you, Ms. Kirkland, for sharing this wonderful story with us and give Bo and Beanz a big hug and kiss for us!

"Bo and Ms. Beanz: Best Friends Forever” was utterly fabulous! So adorable and sweet! Right after I finished reading it for myself I read it again with my eight-year-old, who was just as enchanted (if not more so) than I was. Lucky for me we already have a dog and a cat in our household, or I imagine I’d be hearing begs and pleas for us to get them. Who can resist these amazing creatures that Jane Kirkland brought to life in these pages? I especially liked the section that showed the pictures of some of the other dogs and gave a brief description of them and their personalities…I would have loved to see more on them! I’d definitely be interested in seeing all the other books done by Ms. Kirkland, and if they are even 1/10 as charming as “Bo and Ms. Beanz” is, I know we’ll absolutely love them!

    A terrific read, highest praise!!

How long did it take me to fall head-over-heels in love with this storybook? Exactly 2 pages when we are first greeted with the oh-so-adorable picture of the dog Bo staring back at us. My heart went out to this resilient pup and his tragic past, and I cheered for his successful transition into a happy, well-adjusted dog. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and some of the images in this book spoke volumes! They were absolutely fantastic! They really captured the heart and soul not only of Bo, but of his partner in crime, the incomparable Ms. Beanz, the cat. These two make an adorable pair that are wonderful role models in resilience, acceptance, friendship, and loyalty. A terrific read, one I highly recommend to anyone, and not just young children.
