Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sue Poduska
Part of the "Extreme Sports" series, this is a good introduction to the variety of activities available to kids on the move. After a brief introduction of the topic, the author launches into a discussion of surfing and the equipment involved. Readers learn about snowboarding and the half pipe and also learn about skateboarding and skate parks. Kite surfing and wakeboarding are mentioned as very extreme sports. Windsurfing with its extreme speeds, body boarding, and mountain boarding are the other sports discussed in this book. The numerous detailed photographs usually show athletes using the proper equipment to remain safe. Readers are also reminded to stay healthy enough to enjoy the activities without injury. The author even introduces a useful stretching exercise. The table of contents, brief glossary, "Find Out More" section with books and websites, and index help make this a useful guide. Just in time for the summer Olympics, readers can read about some Olympic sports. Reviewer: Sue Poduska
