*** An AGATHA AWARD Nominee for BEST FIRST NOVEL ***

PACKED WITH HUMOR, ROMANCE, DANGER, AND ADVENTURE...

"A solid and satisfying mystery, yes indeed, and the fabulous and funny Elliott Lisbon is a true gem! Engaging, clever and genuinely delightful." - Hank Phillippi Ryan, Agatha, Anthony and Macavity Award-Winning Author of The Other Woman

"Kendel Lynn captures the flavor of the South, right down to the delightfully quirky characters in this clever new mystery series. Elli Lisbon is the Stephanie Plum of the the South!" - Krista Davis, New York Times Bestselling Author of the Domestic Diva Mysteries

As director of the Ballantyne Foundation on Sea Pine Island, SC, Elliott Lisbon scratches her detective itch by performing discreet inquiries for Foundation donors. Usually nothing serious until Jane Hatting, Ballantyne board chair, is accused of murder. The Ballantyne's reputation tanks, Jane's headed to a jail cell, and Elliott's sexy ex is the new lieutenant in town.

Armed with moxie and her Mini Coop, Elliott uncovers a trail of blackmail schemes, gambling debts, illicit affairs, and investment scams. But the closer she gets to the truth, the more treacherous her investigation. With victims piling up faster than shells at a clambake, Elliott realizes she's next on the killer's list.

Praise for BOARD STIFF:

"A sparkling new voice in traditional mystery." - New York Times Bestselling Author CJ Lyons

"A cross between an educated, upper class Stephanie Plum and a less neurotic Monk. Put this on your list for a great vacation read. FIVE STARS OUT OF FIVE." - Lynn Farris, National Mystery Review Examiner at Examiner.com

"Elliott's not just a charity director or a social host or a disastrous dater or a fledgling private eye--she's all of these things. Elliott Lisbon is a Renaissance woman, dammit, and that makes her uniquely suited for the task at hand. Renaissance women know how to throw good parties, but as it turns out, they're also perfectly capable of catching cold-blooded killers; it simply takes determination and a little chutzpah--two things the Ballantyne Foundation's director has in spades." - Katrina Niidas Holm, CriminalElement.com

"Elliott is smart and sassy, takes no guff and pulls no punches. Packed with humor, romance, danger and adventure, this is a good mystery full of plot twists and turns, with red herrings a plenty and an ending that I found both surprising and satisfying." - Cozy Mystery Book Reviews

"A mystery full of humor and the mannerisms unique to the South, that combine into a fun-filled ride. Elli proves that her skills as a detective are on the level of the exasperating lieutenant and rival her talents at balancing the egos of the rich and not-so-famous." - Kings River Life Magazine

"This is an engaging read that grabbed my attention from the start...With witty banter, a likable cast of characters and a visually appealing setting, this is a great start to what I hope is a long running series." - Dru's Cozy Report, The Cozy Chicks Blog

    So-so book with potential

The early part of the book was only so-so. The pace picked up in the last third of the book so I would say the author shows potential. I like the main character but her thoughts and observations were too repetitive.

    Irrestible ...clutzy..sensitive...and tenacious. Pretty entertaining

Enjoyable and just a good overall read. The killer was a surprise but certainly deserved the fall from grace.

    Scattered plot

I read the first few chapters and jumped to the last. I have no interest to read the ones in between.

This story had me "Board Stiff".

    I would not recommend it.

    Great chick cozy

This is a really fun book. A midlife sleuth wannabe with a REAL life. Elliot is a woman after my own heart, dealing with 'lifestyles of the rich and famous' as the director of The Ballentyne Foundation on one of the Low Country Islands of S.Carolina. Not only does she have to "make nice" with the Board, she has to coddle the Founders and make everybody happy.

When one of the Board is killed, it pulls Ellie into a melodrama rivaling a soap opera. Add an old flame, a new one, a chef-rivalry, and a plot twist that could kill ya, and you have the foundation for another Henery Press "hen house" brand mystery. This is laugh out loud funny

4 STARS An Elliott Lisbon Mystery (#1) This is the first book

    4 STARS

    An Elliott Lisbon Mystery (#1)

This is the first book by author Kendel Lynn that I have read but hopefully not the last. I loved Elliott Lisbon.
She is smart, funny and faints during class. She is the director of Ballantyne Foundation. She does a little of this and that.
She is working on getting her P.I. license very slowly. She is always worried about germs. Elliott, Monk and my mom would get along fine.
At a foundation party her old boyfriend Nick Ransom of 20 years ago shows up and kisses her. Then leaves with his date. The president of the board is making threats against another board member.

The day after the party Elliott goes to another board member's house to help set up for his board meeting, and finds Leo dead.
After she runs out screaming she calls the police. The police detective turns out to be Nick Ransom. His prime suspect is Jane chairman of board for the Ballantyne foundation.

Elliott's billionaire boss is out of the country calls her and asks her to help Jane and find Leo's killer. Ransom does not want Elliott to mess in his investigation at all. Everywhere Elliott goes she runs into Nick and his girlfriend.

Elliott finds out some clues, gets into a food fight, is threatened and runs from Nick and hides from him. Which is hard to do because he bought the house next door to Elliott. Her male friend that is just a friend decides after seeing her and Nick fight decides that he wants them to start dating.

The mystery keeps the suspense up. I did guess the killer right but not the reason why. The relationships between characters was good. did not want to put the book down till I had finished.

I hope their are a lot of Elliott Lisbon Mysteries to come. I was given this ebook to read and asked to give an honest review of it from Netgalley.

Loved This Humorous Mystery! Kendel Lynn's feisty sleuth, Elli

    Loved This Humorous Mystery!

Kendel Lynn's feisty sleuth, Elliott Lisbon, is such fun to read! She may be an amateur for now but she's working hard for her PI license and will let nothing stand in her way--not even her ex-FBI-agent ex-boyfriend who is now a local police detective. Elliott's competing love interests give Board Stiff a nice romantic sub-plot.

Ms. Lynn's characters are well-drawn and real. The setting--a South Carolina sea island--is one of my favorite places to relax. Readers who have spent time along the South Carolina coast may see some similarities between Sea Pine Island and Hilton Head. Board Stiff races to the finish line--I couldn't put it down. I loved this book and would highly recommend it to any friend who likes humorous mysteries with a side of romance.
