Overview

Elizabeth Chapman is saved from an armed robber by a giant Kodiak bear who shifts into a large, well-muscled, and fully naked human male. But when it's revealed that the robber is the brother of a dangerous criminal, Elizabeth finds herself the target of a vendetta.

Ronan, the Bear Shifter, takes her to Shiftertown for safety, where Elizabeth learns that the mateless Ronan, alone in the world, takes care of Shifters who have also been left on their own. Having grown up in foster care, Elizabeth can only admire how protective Ronan is.

But Ronan will only let Elizabeth leave the confines of Shiftertown if he becomes her 24/7 bodyguard. Elizabeth chafes at the restriction, but agrees. The trouble is, the sassy human Elizabeth is triggering Ronan's long-buried need to find himself a mate.

A short novel of the Shifters Unbound series (46,000 words; sixteen chapters).

    New favorite author/series!

I was sceptical of this book at first but fell in love with the characters. Theres depth to the characters and the plot/characters are believable despite it being about 'shifters'. Im now intrigued by shifter life & just purchased the rest of the series. I suspect I wont be putting my Nook down & will read strait through the series by tonight and will be eargerly awaiting her next book! I dont usually write reviews, but this book deserved one!

    Nice concept, bad writing

The author has a great concept for this series, but the writing is uninspired, wooden, cliche-ridden, and flat. Reading this quickly went from annoying to painful. It's the fantasy genre and requires suspension of disbelief, but that doesn't mean your characters can be one dimensional and change every core characteristic in the space of a page just because it's fast and doesn't require skill in scene, dialogue, or plot.

Did not mean to sound harsh, but with so many good writers in this genre, this book was a waste of money and time. Try Kresley Cole or Gena Showalter.

Writing left a lot tobe desired. .

Story was predictable. Never really attached to any characters, as there was no tension.

Okay read-could have expanded on this book.

Quick Read. Not too many twists and turns thrown into this book. You pretty much know within the first few pages who the main character is going to wind up with and how the book is going to pan out. Would have been nice to have more interaction with some of the minor characters and more explanations about the shifter changing after the breeding.

    Great Story to Read!

This was a perfect story story to get you through the time we must wait for the next full size story. Ronan makes you wish there are Kodiak bear sifters running around in our world. He's perfect for Elizabeth. They make a great couple and push along the story line that runs through the entire series. It's a must read.

    Another great story......

.....from this author! Book is 369 pgs long for those interested. I always like to know myself. Im a big fan of Jennifer Ashley and this book did not disappointed. Great story, great characters, always enjoy reading about her Shifters. If you've never read any of her books you are missing out on a great read. It was a nice romance, but definitely one of her least steamy ones, but still good if you like a gentler romance.

    Great

This book was funny and kept me on my toes with action. I like the way the characters were easy going and didn't feel unmanly about giving hugs even though they were tough guys. :) really enjoyed the book.

    Wonderful story!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters this author has created. Elizabeth is logical & follows her intuition, without a lot of agonizing second guessing. I am looking forward to reading the entire series.

Lilywolf to Horseclan - The Abandoned Fox Den

Up ahead a mound of earth can be seen, having been dug up to make way for a large den. This den was the work of a fox and for the most part the scents are all stale inside it. However one scent stands out. Mouseheart. It is here that she gave birth to her litter and then dsappeared from. And her scent is not alone. The fresh scent of a fox is enough to make any cat bristle. Both scents seem to lead away from the den and towards the stream. But except for a small splash of Mouseheart's blood on the sandy bank, there is no evidence as to where both predators have gone. There are certainly no scents leading away from the water, which can only mean one thing... ~ Lilywolf &hearts

    Ronan Finally Gets His!

Normally, kind-hearted men are not my thing. I like them personally, don’t get me wrong, but in novels I’m always squealing over the bad boys. I just do. The badder, the grumpier, and even the more violent they are, the more I swoon. I don’t know why. It’s my thing. That doesn’t mean I don’t like the good-boy bear shifter in any way. I do. He’s one of my favorite characters in the series, but I don’t gush over this type of protagonist. However, I was excited to see him get his own story even if it was a novella. And despite the length and introducing a new protagonist, Jennifer Ashley did amazingly well with the character development. Nowhere in this story did it feel rushed and nowhere did I feel any part of the plot or development was lacking. It was extremely well done, I loved Elizabeth and Ronan’s tale and I’d bet my left kidney any fan of the series will too! Sadly, it’s still not on the list of favorite Shifters Unbound stories, but only because Ronan is more of the “awwww, how cute the big guy is”, less of a “Oh my god, I’d totally do him if he were three-dimensional.” This is a definite 5 stars.
