Children's LiteratureOne in the continuing 'Spyglass' series in social studies and science designed for early readers, this book deals with the physiology of the human body. Full-page color photos of children enhance the large print and limited text featuring vocabulary based on "Guided Reading" principles. The body is viewed as a factory and the basic functions of the brain, heart, lungs, digestive system, senses, skeletal system and skin are briefly discussed as parts of the "factory's" operation. Boxed highlights for each system provide additional facts and glossary words are highlighted. A nice introduction into the workings of the human body is included, but additional resources will be needed to increase understanding. A glossary, index, resources for further study and a list of fun facts are included. 2004, Compass Point Books, Ages 6 to 8.
