Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Fans of the late Michael Crichton will enjoy Dionne's exciting second ecothriller (after Freezing Point). Philippe Dumas, a Nobel Prize–winning French scientist deeply concerned about the future of life on Earth, agrees to attend an environmental summit in Santiago, Chile. Summit organizer Rebecca Sweet, leader of the advocacy group Preserve Our Planet, hopes that Dumas's presence will get her conference the publicity she needs. Celebrity volcanologist Max Heat, who's been tipped off by Dumas that Chaitén, a Patagonian volcano dormant for 9,000 years, may soon erupt, hopes footage of the volcano will form the basis for a successful TV special. After Chaitén blows, researcher Sheila Kennedy seeks evidence to link the catastrophic event with some illegal sulfur dumping. Crisp writing keeps the pace fast, and the tight interweaving of story lines bodes well for this author's future efforts. (Jan.)
New York Times bestselling author - Steve Berry
“Dionne hits her stride with this heart-thumping, timely thriller, one that rings with surreal authenticity. All of the right elements — action, suspense, secrets, conspiracies — meld together, the plot built skillfully, like a master craftsman, one layer at a time. Put simply, it’s a non-stop delight of a read.”

“Fans of the late Michael Crichton will enjoy Dionne’s exciting second ecothriller . . . Crisp writing keeps the pace fast, and the tight interweaving of story lines bodes well for this author’s future efforts.”
RT Book Review - Jeff Ayers
“Dionne’s follow-up to Freezing Point delivers more science thrills. The narrative flows well, the characters are sharp and the setting is explosive. While the chaos compels the reader to turn pages, the science reinforces a scenario that is all too real and terrifying. Readers will seek out the previous book and anxiously await the next one.”
"Green Life" blog - Sierra Club
“K.L. Dionne’s second eco-thriller is the sequel to Freezing Point, a gripping novel chronicling the battle for control of Antarctica’s ice. Think Dan Brown, only with more substantial material and fewer repetitive plot devices. Boiling Point features an eccentric group of characters — including two microbiologists, a celebrity figure, and a Nobel-winning scientist intent on destroying the world — and, of course, a storyline that promises to keep readers on edg
Science Thriller Review - Amy Rogers
“If you like volcanoes, Boiling Point is the thriller for you. Filled with intense depictions of what it would be like to actually experience an eruption—from a distance, up close, in the air, on the ground—this novel will fuel your imagination without scorching your lungs. Various aspects of eruptions, including prediction and evacuation, comfortably fit into a plot which revolves around the central mystery of a convoy of trucks engaged in illegal dumping (who? why?), and t

This is a great read, and you learn a lot about volcanic activiity without really realizing it. I loved this book. I had not read Freezing Point, prior to being given this book to read and review, but believe me it is now at the top of my "to read" list. I loved the action and suspense in this novel. It isn't often that we get a glimpse into the differing scientific views on any subject. The author definitely knows what she is writing about, and this book shows it. I recommend this to anyone that likes suspense with a brain.

Not as good as her first

The book's description makes it seem a lot more exciting than it was. The action seems drawn out and I found it hard to connect with any of the characters as there really were no "good guys" or "bad guys" per se'. Even the plot itself was misleading as the "bad guy" never really seems likely to accomplish his "evil" plot. Overall, Freezing Point was a much better read.

    Hot eco-thriller!

Loved this book - kept me on the edge of my seat - or should I say, "on the edge of a volcano"? If you love volcanoes, you'll love this book!
