Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennie DeGenaro
If you want to know more about bombers, this is the book for you. The photographs seem so real that readers will feel they are looking at these airplanes in the sky rather than in pictures. Bombers drop bombs on enemy targets, but fly so high they are hard to see from the ground. Crews use computers to locate bomb targets. The bomb bay holds bombs and when the doors open, bombs drop to the ground. The author explains the duties of various crew members. The pilot and co-pilot sit in the cockpit and fly the plane. The navigator tells the pilot where to fly. Another crew member ensures the bombs hit their targets. The glossary at the end of the book explains words readers may not know. There are a few books listed under "Read More" that provide additional information about bombers. The section on "Internet Sites" explains how to reach needed information at the listed sites. The note to parents and teachers is short, but significant. Although there are only 105 words in this book, it explains a great deal that the reader wants to know. Part of the "Mighty Machines" series. Reviewer: Jennie DeGenaro
