Proceedings of a NATO Advanced Research Workshop held in Brussels, Belgium, September 1992, to review present knowledge and establish the state-of-the-art on bone circulation in normal and pathologic conditions. The lectures have been brought together in this volume under three headings dealing with basic anatomical and physiological concepts and methods of investigation of bone circulation; the circulatory aspect of the various disorders of bone tissue in which the circulation can always be seen to be involved, to a varying degree; and osteonecrosis, and in particular osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
