Overview

The stunning new thriller from the New York Times–bestselling author.

When a Crow Indian acquaintance of Tomlinson’s asks him to help recover a relic stolen from his tribe, Doc Ford is happy to tag along—but neither Doc nor Tomlinson realize what they’ve let themselves in for. Their search takes them to the part of Central Florida known as Bone Valley, famous primarily for two things: a ruthless subculture of black-marketers who trade in illegal artifacts and fossils, and a multibillion-dollar phosphate industry whose strip mines compromise the very ground they walk on.

Neither enterprise tolerates nosy outsiders. For each, public exposure equals big financial losses—and in a region built on a million-year accumulation of bones, there is no shortage of spots in which to hide a corpse. Or two.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this book. When it was one of the books I requested I thought, hmmm, it might be ok but when I actually received and read the book I found myself not doing other things just to read this book.

It was a bit slow on the start but I've learned not to give up on a book just because of that. I found the characters interesting and someone you could relate to. I also enjoyed how Mr. White incorporated the knowledge about prehistoric times and relics from different cultures and times without boring you or using language that the average reader wouldn't be able to relate to.

I definitely want to read the rest of this series!

DOC FORD DELIVERS! Randy Wayne White delivers in his newest DOC

    DOC FORD DELIVERS!
Randy Wayne White delivers in his newest DOC FORD thriller BONE DEEP!
My favorite characters Dr. Marion Ford and his buddy Tomlinson want to help a
Crow Indian friend find stollen artifacts from a tribe in Montana that are believed
to be somewhere in Florida. The search takes Ford and Tomlinson into Central
Florida's BONE VALLEY where they discover an interwoven subculture of black marketers and a billion dollar phosphate industry. White has done a masterful job of exposing a dark, greedy, dangerous business in a captivating story that includes a cast of new characters. A deformed motorcycle maniac bad guy, a wealthy old Florida family, beautiful conniving women, and elephants! A part of Central Florida history and typography is revealed in a whole new way. Doc Ford's home base at Dinkin's Bay Marina and his eclectic mix of friends are a grounding aspect to the series and balances the dangerous action with the seemingly saftey of home. White's BONE DEEP is a terrific new crime/thriller!

I cannot believe this was written by Randy White.  It had to have been writen by a fifteen year old ghost writer.  So many flawes...a rambling story,  no character development, basic lack of understanding of indians, cartoonish villian.  These are just a frw of the faults of a very bad book.  Rand, what the heck happened?

    Disappointed

I've read every RWW book and this was way off the mark. Characters hardly developed and a weak storyline, not to mention almost no action by Doc Ford. His relationship with Hannah got really weird too.

A fun read that Doc Ford's fans will enjoy. Having started to read Randy Wayne White's series from the beginning recently, however, I can't help but note that his latest novels are no where near as deep, thoughtful or philosophical as his earlier ones. Some may prefer that, but I hope he just isn't putting out pap because his contract forces him to dump out of book every year. Still good, but not great, as in the past.

Just as I figured, another winner by RWW. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in 3 days.
