Guns, Myths, Magic, and an Impossible Quest

Years after nuclear war has devastated the world and split reality, a group of fighters have come from the western radiation zones. Through the undead, past dead, and soon-to-be dead, they’ve trekked, obeying a forgotten code of honor. On an impossible quest to find those who came before them, these fighters are searching through the remnants, hoping to find Safe Haven.

Safe Haven:
A place of safety and light, of honor and duty. A Refuge for survivors.
Also: A place of darkness and death, where murder and magic go hand-in-hand.

Our Leader
Alexa is a leader of men. She culled her companions from the dwindling herd of mankind, because she sensed they alone might have the strength to make the journey. Each battle fought at her side has tightened their bonds and those with her are determined to let nothing stand in their way of reaching safety. For Alexa however, their quest is more personal than finding a safe place to start rebuilding all they lost. It's about the search for her missing family. With her scarred fingers and fire-roughened voice, this stunning blonde warrior will lead these six bad-ass men through hell and back to reclaim what she lost in the war – her place on Adrian’s right.

Our Fighters
The Horseman: Edward was taken in the Draft, held in a bunker for months after the War, while his wife was murdered and left to die. When the food began running out, he helped breach compound to free everyone. Those freed men then destroyed the nearest towns. The horseman, so called because of his touch with animals, has never forgiven himself. Until Alexa saved him, he only wanted to die.
The Biker: Daniel liked to risk his life for thrills before the end of the world forced him to see that there were more important things to die for. He lost his child in the aftermath of the War, and tried to take his life because of it. Alexa healed his injuries and his heart.
The Preacher: In his mid-twenties, Jacob has jagged scars that crisscross his cheek and forehead. Before the War, he was government. After, he was the preacher in River City. He believes in peace and will go out of his way to achieve it, but when the battles come, he is as dangerous as the rest of Alexa’s companions. The other men assumed his wounds have caused this, but their leader knows better. Jacob is a born killer.
The Convict: Mark was a criminal when she came for him, in an underground slam in Boulder with the other killers. That hadn't stood in her way. When Alexa had left Boulder, he had been at her side and happy to be in the place he was born for.
The Blacksmith: David is the normally silent member of her group. Taller than her other men, he wears the same dark coloring and intelligent blue eyes. Little else is known, yet.
The Driver: Billy was a limo driver before the War. He can scale a tree like a monkey. He’s the only one of her men to have hair long enough to keep in a ponytail. Little else is known, yet.

Meet the Author

Hello, I'm Angie. Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, lets you and I take a little stroll. There's a story I need to let out of its cage and I think it's one you need to hear. It's about the end of the world as we know it... Little pleases me more than to explore the dark fantasy and horror stories in my head. Knowing other people like them is second only to the magic of this new career I've chosen so feel free to drop me a line or post a review. As a die-hard Cincinnatian, I much prefer writing to the stresses of being a city Taxicab dispatcher. Thank you for making my dreams possible.

I loved seeing how Alexa chose her fighters!

If you are new to the Alexa's Travels series, "Bone Dust & Beginnings" is the book you want to start with. The author apologizes/explains at the end of this book that "The Mountaineer's (Alexa's Travel's) was published out of order, no worries if you've already read it, it's just that "Bone Dust & Beginnings" is where Alexa's quest actually began and where/how she chooses her group of 6 men known as her fighters and/or "my pets" as she also affectionately calls them. I really enjoy this series and it's also nice that it has a connection to the "Life After War" series(another favorite of mine!). Alexa and her fighters are heading for Safe Haven, not only to find a safe place but also so Alexa can search for her missing family. A nuclear war in 2012 had devastated the world, in "Bone Dust & Beginnings" Alexa is traveling with 4 "fighters" and as she continues on her quest she will add in others. Along the way they run into very interesting characters, including a troll named Jendon, there are battles, lessons, and also some magic! "Bone Dust & Beginnings" immediately draws you in and I found it hard to put down. I can't wait for the next book in the series to see what adventures are in store for Alexa and her "pets"!
