All Music Guide
On 2007's Bone Palace Ballet, its second outing for the Equal Vision label, the adventurous emo rock act Chiodos offers up an ambitious metal-tinged album. As always, the Michigan band presents a set of oddly named tunes ("I Didn't Say I Was Powerful, I Said I Was a Wizard"), but this time the group's arrangements are even more dynamic and dramatic, as on the dark, Wagnerian opener "Is It Progression If a Cannibal Uses a Fork?" which showcases frontman Craig Owens' expressive vocals.

    I Also Recommend:

Different Than Was Expecting, But Pretty Good!

I checked this CD out at the library I work at, figuring it was about time I gave these guys a listen. I was previously under the impression that these guys were a more of an actual hardcore group, but upon listening to this album I then realised that they were more of a post-hardcore/experimental rock type artist, which is totally cool. I tend to favor slightly harder stuff more often, but there is a sleu of this type of music that I really enjoy as well, and I would have to say that Chiodos themselves are pretty good. I enjoyed this album well enough, and would recommend it to anyone who likes such music. I would not say that it's at the top of my list to own right away, but I do think that one day I would eventually invest in some Chiodos stuff.

the best on equal vision records

"a letter from janelle" is by FAR the best this album has to offer. however, the entire album is a cinch to listen to [all the way through]...yes it is quite a bit "if not WAY" different than their previous albums, but, in a strange way, far better. the final track,"the undertaker's thirst for revenge is unquenchable", is much similar to their past records, as nearly the entire song is vocalist craig owens' screams. i am a 17 year old guy and still think this is a career best album. chiodos' bone palace ballet is a great record.
