Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
Children learn best by becoming engaged in the learning process, whether it is by following along when being read to or participating in interactive lessons. This collection of children's songs spans several centuries and includes songs that children will be familiar with as well as songs that will be new to children and adults alike. Each simple song tells a silly story that young children will find engaging. The songs are accompanied by treble clef music and additional verses are provided when appropriate. The songs are presented in subject groups including "Love and Marriage," "Clever Beasties," and "And Then What?" Most songs also include a simple drawing of the subject and or events within the song. An accompanying CD would have been beneficial, but the treble clef music will provide enough direction to those with the ability to read music. This text is part of the "First Steps in Music" series. Targeted to adults working with children ages 3 to 8. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
