Overview

This is the story of Beth. It is also the story of many children from the past, many of those today and many who have yet to be. Little children, who face trials far greater than their tender years. But who overcome through the invisible power of Hope that captures the heart in the face of seemingly impossible odds. Hope, that magically appears and takes hold in the mystical Land of Ominook.
As the story goes, Beth is chosen to travel beyond the Realm of Deep Life. Her Grandmother Momay, leads her to Hope by the way of an old, old story passed down through the centuries. Beth travels beyond space and time to walk among the Opinocks. Creatures who serve, protect, and heal the children of Earth as they pass through the valleys of pain and fear.
She opens her heart to strange beings who respond with kindness and even a bit of humor. Beth finds courage she did not know she possessed and in fact, she learns to laugh again. You too will find that within abides the "Nook" beyond the stars. And just as little Beth, the first step of the journey is to close your eyes.

Meet the Author

As the saying goes, you often live half your life before discovering what you were always meant to do. For Patti Parker writing has long been a passion. She grew up in a large family hearing many stories from parents and grandparents with some tales dating all the way back to the late 1800's. There were times she would sneak around the corner and hide when the "grown-ups" were talking and quietly eaves drop on their discussions....listening to mom, dad, aunts, uncles, and grandparents chattering away while they sat at her mom's kitchen table, very often into the wee morning hours.
That's where it all began. Born a child of the South, a Daughter of the American Revolution, mother, wife and grandmother, and so it is now we see a new generation of stories emerging....some fantasy and some true....but all with one intent, to touch the hearts and minds of little ones, just as when she was a child.
Today Patti enjoys traveling America by way of the Cracker Barrel route, lives in Shreveport, Louisiana, is a career professional and children's author. She happily shares her life with her husband and best friend, Steve, and lots of family and friends.
