Meet the Author

I live in Istanbul, a city with more than 10,000 years of human history. Thinking of all that history and mythology, I wanted to write a story set in the present day infused with the richness of local culture. In this three book series, young Effie, a member of the local magi, is caught in an eternal enchantment by Antaeus, a merboy who has been sent by his people to secure the help of her people who wish to escape the poisonous Marmara Sea. The books are about their quest to save his people, and, once he has gone to fulfill his mission, her struggle to live with her end of the binding enchantment.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and am happiest when it is raining. Coming to Turkey was part of my grand quest to become a historian. After my MA in Ottoman history I understood that I am more interested in the story than the facts. I have worked as an academic editor for the last 15 years, soaking up information about Turkey. In my spare time I...write.
