Once in a long while a book comes along that challenges tradition and shakes our belief in the very institutions we trust most.

The Book Your Church* Doesn’t Want You To Read presents a rare and honest look at one of the most controversial issues of all time: religion. Packed with essays from world-renowned theologians, historians, and researchers, this ground-breaking anthology exposes misrepresentations, challenges age-old beliefs, and seeks to reveal the whole truth to anyone who has ever been told what to believe. It discloses the shocking origins and frail histories of the world’s major religions and answers questions you never even knew you had. But more than anything, The Book urges and inspires readers to think for themselves.

"Absolutely too important to be ignored, censored or dismissed! The Book shall rightfully hold its place as a best seller." -Bill Jenkins

The Book Your Church Doesn't Want You to Read 3.5 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 6 reviews.

I thought the book was outstanding. To get at the origins of Christianty, you have to go outside of it. The church will not divulge this information. As for the negative reviews, I think Isaac Asimov's quote on p. 11 covers it: 'The Bible must be seen in a cultural context. It didn't just happen. These stories are retreads from stories before. But, tell a Christian that -- No, No! What makes it doubly sad is they hardly know the book, much less its origins'

I loved every piece of this book. I highlighted, put sticky notes on everything that made an impression on me, then realized it was the whole book! It's refreshing to think that I am not the only one who feels that the christian dominated history needs a re-write. I read the bible, and other religious material and have chosen to teach my children from truth and not conjecture. I congratulate the author!

THE BOOK should be in all the hotel rooms not the bible...set your mind free...too bad the pope and all the tv preachers don't have the courage and intelligence to bring their flocks to the truth..of course there's no money in evidence, fact and the truth!

If you want to have your intelligence insulted with conspiracy theories, glaring historical inaccuracies, constant assigning of motives, and just plain tall tales -- this is the book for you! On the other hand, if you want to read about the alternatives to the Christian Right you can start with the Gospels themselves and then read any of the many non-fundamentalist theologians. The self-aggrandizing title of this book reeks of sensationalism and is only the first hint of what is inside.
