I have now read the first two books in the series. The books are good but not great. The police are portrayed as incompetent. Due to the rivalry between the heorine and the sheriff, no one on the police force can make any connections that are obvious. The rivalry is between the sheriff and Tricia, so why are the other policemen blind? This one repetitious theme drops my grading of the books. The rest of the story line is pretty good. Tricia is cocky in her "smarts" and "ability". She is quick to point out others faults, whether they are too nosy, incapable, annoying... At the same time, she possesses a lot of the qualities she finds irritating in others. The author doesn't let her get off easily when one of these qualities offend someone else or she makes a mistake. I like that. Tricia becomes easily identifiable with her fallocies. I'd like to see her continue to grow. She has already shown growth with her sister. She got a little too much credit at the end, but hey, she is the star of the book. :) I will definitely give the next book a try but I hope that the police department gets a clue or gets replaced.

Great characters and concept. If you like books you will love this series. A whole town filled with bookstores? I'd call that heaven. Throw in a mystery? Even better. Bravo, Lorna. Keep them coming!

I enjoyed Murder is Binding so much that I pre-ordered this book. Stoneham, NH seems like such a nice little town - a tourist wonderland of books. Does life get better than a town of books???? NO!!
Lorna Barrett added a unique murder in Bookmarked for Death. Even at 2/3's of the way through the book I still had not figured out 'whodunit'. I like not knowing until the end! I enjoy that Lorna uses characters from the first book to keep their stories alive even though the focus is on a whole new mystery.
I'd heartily recommend this book for a fun read. You'll get to know Tricia, Angelica, Miss Marple, Mr. Everett, Ginny, Bob and Russ even better than from Murder is Binding. And if you're like me, you'll be anxiously awaiting the third installment in this series.
I'm fairly sure that no geese were harmed in the writing of this mystery!

In Barrett's mystery novel, bookstore owner Tricia Miles is hosting a book signing for bestselling author Zoe Carter to celebrate the bookstore's anniversary. Before long the police and the media are demanding answers when the author is found dead in the washroom. The prime suspect appears to the author's mousy niece and with an uninterested sheriff, Tricia takes the investigation on herself to solve the mystery. An excellent sequel to the A Booktown Mystery series. Tricia Miles is one tough sleuth!

I loved this as much as the first. I just love this series. I can barely put them down. I just adore Tricia and Mrs Marple. I would love to take a long weekend trip to Stonehem, NH. So well written it seems so real. I am so glad to started this series.

I enjoyed this book, as well as the first for the Booktown Series. The characters come to live off the page. The story plot line seems realistic. Look forward to next in the series.

I love everything about this series & this individual book. The idea of a town centered around bookstores makes my knees go weak, but top it off with great characters & forget it. I own every book in the series! In Bookmarked For Death, Tricia is forced to find out who killed author Zoe Carter and why. Since the crime scene is also Tricia's mystery bookstore, her store has been shut down & Tricia has no faith in the town's sheriff. The plot takes you in many different directions and I loved every minute of it! There were surprises and twists I didn't see. I hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I did.
