Wonderful book!! Not for women who allow their doctor to dictate their pregnancies and make pregnancy, childbirth and new baby care decisions for them and or who submit to 'everyone else does it'. This book is aimed to give 'crunchy' moms a comprehensive source of information for natural pregnancy, birth, and newborn parenting! Gives lots of great information on every aspect of pregnancy, birth, and new baby care to expectant moms who do not believe in submitting their child to 'hospital procedures' or 'medical protocols'. As a doula and aspiring midwife, and now as a pregnant mom myself, I LOVE this book!!!
Having a child is one of the most important decision in your life.. This book is reality, there is alot to know about having a child. I used this book threw all three of my children and I loved it. It gave me information weekly, monthly and more.
I was looking for a prenancy book that would explain many different approaches to childbirth, but not to the exclusion of medical intervention. It seemed to me this book was mililtant, natural, no drug pregnancy, geared to the exclusion off all else and came off as jugemental to those who do not go along with this approach. I then decided to toss it after reading the paragraph on circumscision and how it is cruel, unneccessary and can KILL - yes - KILL your baby boy and should never be done. Seems to me no one I know has lost a child to circumscision and I dont care for anyone trying to scare people into their views. I dont trust at all what I have read in this book. If a completely natural, at home, drug free, in a pool birth is all that you want or will settle for, this book may be for you, otherwise, skip the guilt trip and dont bother
