Screenwriting Tricks of the Trade based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
I'm a working screenwriter, many years ago when I wasn't, I read this wonderful book and so many of its' 'Truths' have stuck with me. I still use them today on every script I write. Mr. Froug doesn't know how much he has influenced me and all these years later. With his book still there right on top of the things I bring to each script. I finally Googled the man and read as much as I can about him. Someone thank him for me. Haha, because all the straight wisdom, hard truths and wonderful insight in this book has served me very well. And to any inspiring writer, of any sort, this book is a gold mine. In the right hands, it's words to thrive by. No joke. I did.
As a published novelist, I didn't expect to learn much of anything from a book on scriptwriting. I leafed through several at the bookstore and settled on this one because the author has extraordinary credentials: an Emmy-winning screenwriter, an award-winning producer, a professor, and the founder of UCLA's Film and TV Writing Program. I learned soooo much from this book. It answered all my basic questions, like How many scenes are there in a typical script & movie? (How amateurish would I look if I had half or double the number!) It also addresses the debate over structure paradigms and clearly emphasizes truly important topics. Screenwriting Tricks of the Trade is well organized, clearly written, thorough - and invaluable!
