Library Journal
Peel is already a household name because of her numerous books, Family Circle pieces, and television appearances. In this latest work, she again implements her trademark, businesslike approach to household management, showing readers how to motivate and teach the "home team" (the spouse and kids) about taking charge of meals and entertaining and managing household finances, among other tasks. Taking her cue from strong managers, she fosters teamwork to get the job done and, like other authors in this genre, mixes equal parts common sense, tried-and-true methods, and a few unique ideas. For example, comments on dinnertime and the suggestions for family conversation starters are refreshing. As with her earlier books, Peel's conversational tone and realistic picture of family life make the text easy to read, while her liberal use of sidebars and lists makes it both useable and browsable. Donna Smallin's Organizing Plain & Simple is a fine alternative where Peel's books have not been in demand. Recommended.-Bonnie Poquette, Shorewood P.L., WI Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
