World religions have so much diversity of thought and philosophy, and so many variations, a student can get lost in the detail. This book keeps its promise to present the basics of the major religions in an objective and informative way. In-depth textbook it's not. But it fulfills its promise: 'Tough Questions, Clear Answers.' As a student of world religions, I appreciate its clarity and viewpoint. And it costs a small fraction of the big textbooks. What student wouldn't like that?

I bought this book because I am working on a project that needs objective comparative religion information. The publisher states that the book will 'help you evaluate each religion for yourself,' a claim that is simply not true. The author has done the evaluating for you! He has subtly slanted the book, so that after you read about other religions, you can confirm that Christianity is the best. For instance in the Primal Religions chapter he calls their stories 'myths'; in the New Age Chapter he mentions the use of the swastika; and he opens the Atheism chapter with two quotes from Karl Marx. Add to that the fact that he calls pro-choice beliefs 'pro-abortion' and his agenda becomes clear. If you are a Christian, and all you want is something to validate your religion, this book is for you. If you want an objective comparative religion book, I suggest that you look elsewhere.
