Overview

The Boondocks took the syndication world by storm. The notoriety landed Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder in publications ranging from Time magazine to People magazine which named him one of the "25 Most Intriguing People of '99. Centered around the experiences of two young African-American boys, Huey and Riley, who move from inner-city Chicago to the suburbs (or the "boondocks" to them), the strip fuses hip-hop sensibilities with Japanese anime-style drawings and a candid discussion of race. Love It ^_^

I love The Boondocks!! It does a really good job of talking about important issues all while having great humor to relieve the pressure a little. Huey is the serious one, concerned about the problems in politics, the media, and so on, while Riley is his complete opposite, not a care in the world and only worried about being a wanna-be thug/rapper. I also love the theme song. (Oh, and if I could, I would sooo make Riley my boyfriend. He is waaaaay too cute ^_^ <3 ).

The Boondocks will have you laughin' out hard

The Boondocks is one of the greatest comic strips I've read in a long time, both for its political boldness and for all the crazy humor found throughout this book. What I really like about the Boondocks is that its funny and yet it makes you think about the issues involved at the same time. I highly recommend it for both comic lovers and for anyone seeking a valuable insight into the issues of today's crazy world. Oh, and be sure to check out the new Boondocks show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block!

    Mrs. Huey Freeman

I loved this book. I love the way Huey's ideas are so dismal and bleek. He is always thinking up a new plan of how the man is out to get him. And riley, had to be the cutest wanna be thug i've ever seen. Riley adds comic releif to Hueys politcal rants.

    Brilliant-insightful

Aaron has brought to the forefront with his intellect, wit, and amazing artistry some of the bravest, stylish, and thought-provoking issues that are being ignored by the masses.

You will laugh your butt off!!

I read this from cover to cover in a couple of hours!! It makes you laugh but then makes you think about yourself and the way you act and think. It reminds of a young Whoopi Goldberg when she FIRST came out with her one woman show on Broadway. Boondocks will always be in my collection along with Calvin & Hobbs.

    Absolutely Awesome

The funniest book I've read in a long time. Calvin & Hobbes, Doonesbury, and all the other comics, pale in comparison. I laugh outloud the entire time I read it....everytime.

    Here Comes the Neighborhood!

This collection is some of the sharpest political and social satire that I've seen. Big laughs and small smiles at the insights provided make this an excellent work.
