Gr 7 Up

Booster Gold aches to join the Justice League, a group that is understandably skeptical about him since the last time he was involved with them he fled before a big fight. And then tried to manipulate the press, and faked his own death for sympathy! It's a novel concept that early on begins to fade, however, as the by-the-numbers supervillains roll out and the plot fails to create much real drama. While some comics fans may enjoy reading the adventures of B- or C-level characters in the DC Universe, simply having a hero, a villain, and Superman in a few panels is not enough to attract a wide readership. The artwork is glorious, each scene having real comic appeal and an old-fashioned, spirited, aggressive paneling, but the players and the story are flat.-John Leighton, Brooklyn Public Library, NY

Booster Gold is a very well written character who deserves this stand-alone series. Geoff Johns really takes you in with his writing.
