    World's Best SAT Prep

In the competitive world of college admissions, it seems like the hurdles for college acceptance is getting higher and higher. In order to improve our daughter's chance of acceptance, she read Marcie Manning's book, Boot Camp For Your Brain. The book provided her with the focus necessary to improve her scores by 260 points for a total of 1490. In addition, she scored a perfect 800 on the math portion of the SAT test. She couldn't have done it without this book. Thank you, Marcie!

    great book

I used the book in combination with the course to prepare for my SATs. Although self-intiative and desire to succeed is obviously required out of the student, Mrs. Manning makes every student feel that it is not impossible to get an 800. The book has a fabulous vocabulary section that is jam-packed with vocabulary terms and a short, easy to remember definition as well as a section on Latin roots. With 10 Real SATs and boot camp for the brain, I was very well prepared on test day, and confidence is one of the most important things to have before running the "3 hr marathon for your brain" as Mrs. Manning would call it.

"Boot Camp for Your Brain" - A "Must Have" for SAT Prep

This book is a comprehensive and straightforward approach to studying for the SAT. My son has always had difficulty taking tests. Even though his grades are good, I was concerned that he would not be competitive for the colleges of his choice. Due to a very busy schedule, he wasn¿t able to spend as much time as he had hoped studying for the SAT. Even so, after working with this book and doing the practice tests, his scores went up 170 points! Instead of dreading the college application process, now we are enjoying it because my son¿s SAT scores are competitive with his peers. I highly recommend ¿Boot Camp for your Brain: A No-Nonsense Guide to the SAT I¿. It is an invaluable tool.

    great info, excellent presentation

"BOOT CAMP FOR YOUR BRAIN" is an excellent guide to increasing your SAT score! My son's score went from 1180 to 1340. Having studied on his own for the SAT the first time he took it, he greatly appreciated the ease of reading it and gaining excellent advice for taking the SAT. His vocabulary scores, in particular, skyrocketed. At a time when SAT scores are key to college entry, you do NOT want to miss out on "Boot Camp for Your Brain". Marcy Manning's style helps make the info stick indelibly!

    boot camp

I highly recommend 'Boot Camp for your Brain: A No-Nonsense Guide to the SAT I'. I used this book in combination with a course and saw a tremendous increase in scores. I was never a terrific test-taker, so when my first and only high school SAT I score came back so high, I knew it must have been because of this book. I went from a 48 Verbal, 68 Math on my 2000 PSAT, to a 620 Verbal and a 780 Math on my Dec. 2001 SAT ! That's a 240 point increase. Boy, was my Mom impressed. The exercises and information in the book were laid out in such a way that I could easily understand the material and keep 'on task'. It was very logical and easy to comprehend. I have recommended this book to many of my friends. One of them refuses to give it back!! On a 5-star scale, I would definitely give this book a 5. I really think that if you use this book correctly, your scores will increase as mine did. Good luck!

    Efficient AND Useful

Growing up nowadays is a lot harder than most people think. Colleges expect more than ever, our parents and teachers push us beyond our capacity, and we're trying to find ourselves amidst all this. Getting into college is one of the biggest pressures of being a teenager today, and having a high enough SAT score is not exactly something I want to worry about. Using this book I learned what and how to study for the SAT I. I didn't have to study massive amounts, just enough every day to make sure I knew the information. This book really helped, and I went up 160 points. My score is a 1320, and I plan on taking it one more time to see if I can improve again. My highest recommendations for Boot Camp for Your Brain: A No-Nonsense Guide to the SAT I.

Boot Camp for Your Brain raised my scores 190 points!

This book was a vital key to the scores I received on my SATs. The book covers basically everything you'll see on the test, and the information is organized and presented in a way that is very understandable and quick to go through. The book leaves out a lot useless information and focuses on the exact skills and techniques you will need to score high. The books title is truly fitting because it is literally a boot camp for your brain. I learned more math in reading the chapter on 7 great math facts, then any single year of high school math. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering college, because this book will help you achieve the scores you will need to get into the University of your Choice.

This book helped me score a 1530

Having used the information in this book, I highly reccomend that any student planning on taking the SAT I test buy this book immediately. The information in it has been gleaned from years of study of the SAT itself and covers every type of problem likely to be seen on the test. My scores jumped 210 points after using the book as a study guide. I got an 800 on the math section and a 730 on the verbal section for a combined total score of 1530. I stongly believe that these high scores were a key factor in my being admitted to my top choice colleges. I could not have done it without this book, which is the comprehensive authority on taking the SAT.

An intelligent guide with a sense of humor

Want an intelligent handbook for SAT I preparation? This is the book. It distills the wisdom of someone sincerely devoted to improving the scores-and, hence, the college admission prospects-but more importantly, the skills and confidence-of those high school juniors and seniors confronting their future. Ms. Manning's personal impetus for this 'no nonsense' approach to SAT preparation was a best friend who scored a perfect verbal score. She decided to raise her own scores-by keeping a notebook of all the words she encountered but didn't know-and did improve by 200 points. The book is filled with similar, practical, and effective techniques for mastering the skills and building the confidence necessary for SAT success. My daughter took the SAT preparation course upon which this book was based. Her personal goal, which she achieved, was to score a combined 1500 SAT. There's no magic bullet, as this book is quick to point out. But an intelligent guide-and one that keeps the proper perspective and sense of humor-is indispensable.
