Overview

Two worlds collide when the violence of one of Mexico's most violent cartels spills over the border.
An American college student has gone missing in Cancun.
The police and government are more interested in protecting the popular vacation destination's image than finding the truth.
Catherine James has been hired to find the missing girl, but she soon discovers herself in deep with the cartel. Catherine has no choice but to turn to an ex-lover for help, a former Marine named Matt with whom she shares a complicated past. Together they do what nobody else is willing to do . . . take on the cartel to find out the truth about what's happened to the missing girl.

Meanwhile, Yesenia is a young Mexican woman lured by the same cartel with the promise of a better life across the border . . . only to find herself forced into modern day slavery, a victim of human trafficking. Having escaped from her prison but a witness to a murder, she must now run for her life with the cartel hot on her trail.

All I can say is Wow! Wow! Wow!

The action, intrigue, and pure grit is nonstop in Border Crossings. Everyone thinks that one person can't make a difference and maybe they can't. But when you've got determination, guts, and a very talented friend to assist you, it just might make the difference. Girls, this story features a kick-a_ _ woman who makes you want to sign up to help. Everyone will love this one!

    Nicely done

This book read like a fast paced action movie. I found my heart racing on more than one occasion and was always on edge not knowing what was coming next. I liked how there were two seemingly separate main stories that ended up being more and more connected as the story went on. The ending is fantastic...never saw some of the twists coming, and it wrapped everything up pretty well. There were a few times where i felt that the plot was a little disjointed, but it quickly recovers. I couldn't put this down, and definitely reccommend it.

    Some true

Several years ago a trailer like the description here was found stuffed with illegal immigrants, most dead. The story line and intrigue were excellent. I stayed up past bedtime many nights reading. The only downside was the typos, and there were many. They didnt affect the story, its just that they were annoying. Overall, i highly recommend the book.

    Poorly recommended.

i found this book to be very bloody, gritty, a poor plot line, vicious characters, very poor story, with extremely profane language, i saw no redeeming facets in this book. i ceased reading it after about a hundred ages.

    Well-written

Many interesting stories come together to tell a tale that makes the reader want to read "just one more chapter". About the editing (some reviewers complained of), I found very few errors, none of which took away from the story at all. If you like a good crime-mystery (with very little romance) and don't mind language and violence, give this one a read.

Also, don't let the 800+ page count deter you. That seems to have been a glitch of some sort, for the novel only seemed to be about half that length.

    Enjoyed the book very much

Publishers made a mistake passing this one up. Well written and a good story line. Kept my interest the whole time. I enjoyed the fact that loose ends were tied up before the book ended - not that common in most books lately. Good work!

    Loved it!

Well-written with vivid details, this story moved along quickly, kept me interested and trying to figure things out for myself before they were explained. While reading, I kept thinking, 'This would make an excellent movie.' At times I lost much needed sleep because I simply could not put it down. If you like movies like 'Sin Nombre' or TV shows like 'Breaking Bad' I think you would enjoy this book.

    Border Crossings

This book is too close to the truth - scary. It is a good story though, and I recommend it - just don't read it if you are planning a relaxing trip to Mexico; you'll be looking over your shoulder the entire trip! It's an engrossing book, reads well, and ties up the ends. Go for it.

Excellent coverage of a timely subject

Well written, easy read. Really shows the suffering along our Southern Border, makes the people real to the reader. Living in South Texas, where whole areas are being taken over by the cartels, this is an important issue to me.

    Great Book

Reads like a great action movie with a decent plot for once. I liked the two stories at once and how they interrelated. Made it quick-paced. Really enjoyed it!

    Ray says Excellent!

Kept me awake, wanting to finish it, but not wanting it to end! Would love to see more of the "Dynamic Duo"! After spending a great deal of time on FaceBook, didn't notice that many errors. Nobody's perfect, and even major publishers miss things. Keep writing!

    Entertaining and well Plotted

When an American college student goes missing in Cancun, Catherine James, a Texas lawyer and friend of the family, investigates. She soon finds herself chasing, and being chased by, shadowy gang members working for the local cartel. But Catherine is fierce and has her own secret weapon in the form of Matt, her former romantic interest who still carries a flame for the our heroine.

In a back and forth narration that often doesn't work, but here seems to do well, there is a second plot in the novel as a young Mexican woman is brought over the border for a new life and opportunity in the U.S., only to also find herself a victim of the same cartel Catherine is chasing in Cancun.

The two stories compliment each other well. And while some of the action scenes are reminiscent of the typical type one often finds in crime thrillers, they move the story along well. And with recent headlines coming over the border, Border Crossings is a timely novel and well told.
