Overview

Legend has it that Armand Argeneau is a killer in the bedroom . . .

But with all three of his late wives meeting unfortunate and untimely ends, is this sexy immortal a lover or a murderer? That's what Eshe d'Aureus intends to find out. As an enforcer, it's her job to bring rogue vampires to justice, even if the rogue in question makes her blood race red hot.

Armand knew she was trouble the moment Eshe roared into town on her motorcycle, clad in tight black leather. She claims she's hiding from dangerous fiends, though he suspects something more. But after three wives who've all had trouble remaining, well, undead, Armand is reluctant to open his heart again. Then strange accidents start to happen, each deadlier than the last, and Armand realizes he may not have much time to prove he's a lover, not a slayer.

Good To Know

1.) I started The Deed (my first romantic comedy and the first book to be published) a year after my mother's death. I was very close to my mother and the year following her death was about the most miserable time imaginable. But then I decided I was tired of being down and unhappy, and looked around for something to lift my spirits and make me laugh. When I couldn't find anything, I decided to sit down and write my own. It worked! Emmalene and Amaury's antics in The The Deed had me chuckling as I wrote.
2.) I met my husband in New York in July 2003. I was there because of the RWA conference and he was there on vacation. The first day there we kept running into each other and chatting in front of the hotel, and then he asked to join our group (it was very brave of him. He was the lone male amongst six or seven women, lol). He's a Brit and I'm Canadian and the first two months of our relationship were conducted by phone as well as over the internet. Our first date was a week in New York in September, followed by three weeks in England. He then came to Canada in both November and December, the first time to propose and the second time for Christmas with my family and then to take me back to England with him for New Years. I lived in Northern England for two years. We married in New York and now live in Canada.
3.) I was writing about my husband before I met him. Single White Vampire came out in September 2003 and I took a copy with me to England when I went for the three weeks. I walked into my now-hubby's house to find at least six months worth of mail unopened and stacked up on a shelf inside the front door. When I stopped dead, eyes going wide with shock and asked "My God. That's mail. You don't open your mail?" He looked embarrassed and muttered some explanation about bills automatically being paid by the bank so no need to open those and everything else was unsolicited and he couldn't be bothered. When I burst out laughing, he started to frown and said "What?" My response was to dig out the copy of Single White Vampire and hand it over with the suggestion he read it. The mail thing wasn't the only similarity he had to Lucern Argeneau. There are many more and when he sat down to read the book, he kept stopping and turning a rather startled and even suspicious gaze my way and muttering that this sounded familiar" or that did. I had to point out that it really was coincidence, that I had written that story at least nine months before meeting him. LOL.

Argeneau Novel with a bit of mystery

Born to Bite is the 13th book in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands. This book takes place immediately after the Rouge Hunter with (I think) part of them coinciding.

Eshe, one of the Enforcers for the council, is sent to investigate Armand Argeneau in the deaths of his previous wives as well as the death of his son's wife. Armand is told by his brother Lucian that Eshe is in need of protection as a way to get Eshe in the door. While Eshe begins her investigation she discovers that there are many who care for Armand, including the town-folk where he lives, the families of his deceased wives and his second (Cedrick).

Born to Bite is not exactly the typical Argeneau novel, Eshe and Armand are already both immortal and have both previously had a life mate. There is no adjustment to learning about the immortals and the possibility of lifemates. Rather this book focus on discovering a mystery that has plagued Armand Argeneau for many years. I really enjoyed this addition to the series, getting the chance to get to know Eshe and Armand was a treat!

    I liked it, but....

Let me begin by saying I love this series and I did like this book, however, Armand and Esche really did not have the sizzle of the couples in the previous books. I agree with the reviewer who said everything between them was "accepted and expected". Armand does at first try to send Esche away to protect her from the fate of his wives but he doesn't try very hard or for very long so no real sexual tension gets built up. Having said this, I am glad the mystery that left me hanging in the previous novel was cleard up and even though I thought I had it figured out early on, there was a twist I didn't expect. I still remain a fan of the series and will jump on the next novel.

    I Also Recommend:

    Boring

I'm getting really bored with Lynsay Sands and this series. The story is always the same, only with different characters and occasionally, a different setting. But there is always the inevitable staking with which the lover will revive them with plenty of blood, blah blah blah. Always the same, never changing. And the predictibility is just ridiculous. I'm ready for something new and exciting, which thankfully I have found in other authors. If you've read one argeneau novel, then you have read them all. Don't waste your time or money.

    Vangtastic read

Exactly what you would expect from Lynsay Sands. Funny, Sexy and thrilling to read. I could not put the book down and the way she discribes their first tast of food again would make you think that Lynsay is a vampire herself. Great book and series.

    Happy resolution.

Nothing better than resolving cliffhangers in a very satisfying way. And needless to say, Ms. Sands accomplished that easily.
As always, I thoroughly enjoyed Lynsay's latest. The chemistry between the H/H was fabulous and kept me reading way, way passed my bedtime. Absolutely loved it.

    Not up to her usual.

One of the reasons why I love reading Lynsay Sands is because her novels always have a great sense of humor and make me lol. This book has no humor at all. Too bad Lynsay lovers. This is her worst effort.

    terrific atypical entry

Vampire Armand Argeneau is stunned when his lifemate and two other women close to him all died mysteriously accidental. The Council sends undercover Enforcer Eshe d'Aureus to investigate the farmer as the brass wonders if Armand is a spousal serial killer. His brother Lucien enables Eshe to get onto Armand's farm as he tells his sibling that she is hiding from Leonius Livius the second who wants her dead.

As she investigates her host, she and Armand are shocked to realize they are life mates. Neither is pleased with this revelation as she fears she loves a psychopathic murderer and he fears the three women he cherished were murdered by an unknown adversary who probably will make his fourth female he holds dearly the next target. When the incidents begin, Eshe wants to believe a third party is causing them, but she still has niggling doubts about her beloved as all evidence seems to point to him yet everyone who knows him including his in-laws think the world of him.

The latest Argeneau urban fantasy (see Bite Me if You Can, Love Bites and A Quick Bite) is a terrific atypical entry in which the story line is more of a super investigative thriller rather than the vampire romance though the latter is a key secondary subplot. The story line is fast-paced and contains amusing interludes especially when Eshe drives Lucien crazy. Series fans will relish this wonderful tale while newcomers will also appreciate the vampiric whodunit.

    Great "Whodunnit"

This is #13 in the Argeneau series. At the end of book #12, the news that Nicholas had been framed and was no longer being sought by the council. What a cliff-hanger that was!

Be ready to find out the truth behind the deaths of Nicholas, Thomas and Jeanne Louise's mothers and Nicholas' first lifemate in this book!

Then the surprise as Armand finds his lifemate is the beautiful, exotic Eshe. What a lucky guy! Or is he? The story is thick with plots to keep the cause of the deaths a secret...

Read this book to get your answers to all the questions left hanging at the end of book #12 in the Argeneau series!!!

    Love this series

I have been reading this series for about 2 years now and i reallt enjoy theae books mostly because its a different view on vampires as compared to the ones that sparkled in Twilight. But this book really had me guess who the culprit was until the end at some points you think it was one person and at others you think it was someone else. I really enjoyed this book as i have when i read the others. This is a really amazing series and I really enjoy learning about this family because there are so many personalities.

    Wickedly Funny and Sexy

Born To Bite by Lynsay Sands continues the delightful stories of the Argeneau family.

Armand Argeneau has retreated to his farm to live a life of the gentleman farmer. After all three of his former wives have met with tragic deaths. He decides it would be safer for his children and extended family if he didn't have much contact with them. The head of the family Lucian asks for Armand's help he reluctantly agrees. He figures he can offer a safe place to hide to one of Lucian's enforcers. But Armand's first meeting of Eshe d'Aureus has him feeling thinks he has thought had died centuries ago.

Eshe d'Aureus is sent to Armand Argeneau's farm with an ulterior motives. She is send to find out who is behind the deaths of Armand's wife's and the death of his sons wife as well. Eshe has to get close to Armand to discover the truth. The truth gets complicated when they discover that they are life mates.

Armand and Eshe join forces to get to the bottom of these terrible deaths. Along the way they become targets of the evil that is closer then either of them realize. Trying to stay out of harms way begins to prove tricky, trying not to fall in love is much harder for both of them.

Lynsay Sands Argeneau series if funny, witty and all out sexy. I loved this series from the first book and it has only grown deeper with each story. This story will answer a lot of questions about the past. Armand and Eshe are a treat, their chemistry and connection is very satisfying. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Kudos.

    Good read, but seemed rushed.

I'm a big fan of Lynsay Sands vampires series, but I have to say I was a little disapointed with this book. It was still a good read, but there wasn't any build up between the characters. Everything between them was just accepted and expected. There was really no romance or anything, not like all her previous books. Also, I gotta say it kind of annoyed me that she used the words, "dryly" and "wryly" in almost every single dialogue and sometimes to describe expression and actions. It was a bit much that she couldn't think of another way to describe how her characters spoke. Aparently everyone spoke in a lightly sarastic tone throughout the book. Decent read, but don't expect any character build up. The book seemed a bit rushed. Still plan on reading her next book, hopefully the adjectives will be a bit more original.

    Born to Bite

Overall the book was wonderful but I found it a bit to long.

Eshe and Armand made a great couple. He has the out look of a glass half empty and she has the opposite view. She brings light to his life.

The investigating into the death of Armand's former wives is what took so long to solve. It was slow but gave me a satisfying conclusion.

It just goes to show what can happen when you chose to sire the wrong person.

Sink Your Fangs Into This Argeneau!

Have I ever told you how much I really love Lynsay's books? No. Well let's just say that I have read every single book she has written to date so does that give you some indication!

This installment of the Argeneau Family Saga is right up there with the best of the best. Lynsay starts out with sparks flying between Armand and Eshe that could incinerate an atomic bomb. Whew..........! Let's just say the hot and steaminess of the beginning chapters will have you running for a cold shower. YUMM!

It's not long before we get down to business though and the storyline really picks up speed and continues right to the end at a fantastic pace. This is a solid storyline that will make you think you are an innocent bystander watching all this as it actually happens. This is what you get from an author who most certainly knows her stuff.

Eshe and Armand are sooooooooo made for each other. I want my own life mate please that will curl my toes and sizzle the tips of my hair. With all that our hero and heroine go through and the way the story makes you think, it will keep you guessing let me tell you. I had part of the puzzle solved early on but questioned myself right up to the end and Lynsay threw just the right size monkey wrench into the story to keep me off track and questioning.

If you are an Argeneau Lover then don't miss out on this book. You snooze you loose as the saying goes and this is a 5 star worth every page.
