BORROWED COWBOY is the second instalment in Parker Kincade’s adult, contemporary Shadow Maverick Ranch erotic romance series focusing on the Mathis family who own and run the Texas ranch. This is Paxton Mathis and Reese Jameson’s storyline-a second chance at love for two former best friends who were destroyed by a night of passion and a deep seated guilt.
Told from third person POV the focus of the storyline is the rekindling and rebuilding of a relationship between Paxton and Reese. Reese has been back in Texas for close to two years and hasn’t once made any contact with Pax. When Lauren and Gavin Mathis hire event planner Reese to help with their upcoming wedding, Reese knows that Pax will eventually cross her path. She isn’t prepared for the emotional fallout from the man she believes blames her for a night that went horribly wrong.
Reece and Pax’s relationship is steamy and hot as though the ten years of separation have never changed their feelings for one another. But Paxton’s faith in humanity was all but destroyed by a former love and letting another woman into his heart is harder than he could have ever imagined.
The world building continues with the inclusion of the Mathis family including Lauren and Gavin from White Collar Cowboy-book one. All of the secondary characters add color and some personal information about a man who has struggled with the demise of a relationship and a betrayal of the heart.
Parker Kincade pulls the reader into fast paced, intimate and romantic storyline of first loves who discover that their feelings for one another have never waned. Pax and Reece’s storyline is a provocative and emotional tale about two people who got caught up in a moment in time and have been given a second chance to claim what should have been their’s all along.

Parker Kincade creates another sexy cowboy with staying power in her latest book in the Shadow Maverick Ranch series. Paxton "Pax" Mathis is a mans-man and a cowboy that will make you sigh and drool. He is rough around the edges and growly. But totally sexy and lovable, too.
Borrowed Cowboy is a sexy bite of a story that packs a punch. Pax is a sexy cowboy who has dealt a pretty serious blow to his ego when he catches his wife in the throes of a tryst with not one but TWO cowboys. After his divorce from her, Pax pretty much closes his heart off to the possibility of love. He's all in for the physical but vows that no woman will ever have his heart. Well, little did he know that his heart back to him in the form of Reese Jameson. Reese was Pax's first love but their love was snuffed out in its infancy because of a tragedy that involved Pax's best friend. Feeling guilt because of "her role" in the tragedy, Reese leaves her heart and her life in Texas. A decade separates the couple and feelings of loss for what could have been plague them both -- especially Reese. However, Reese has a chance to make things right with Pax. Fate brought Reese and Pax together through via a wedding. Reese is now a meeting planner and is planning Gavin and Lauren's wedding, from White Collar Cowboy. The connection between the couple sparks immediately and before you know they are...well...back in the "saddle" again. Although Pax is gun shy because of his experiences with his ex, he gives his relationship with Reese a fighting chance. But, there relationship is in peril of ending before it gains strength when someone from Reese's life tries to come between them. But man...oh man...I love how Pax handled that situation. He totally could have written Reese off. And, honestly, I was afraid he would have because of how he responded. But, I love how neither he nor Reese were willing to let their relationship die. They were so cute together and they burned up the pages of my Kindle. I loved Gavin but I gotta say that Pax is now my new favorite Mathis brother.
The stories in this series just keep getting better and I so appreciate the bite sized morsels of sexiness that Kincade delivers with each one.
