Meet the Author

Maureen's illustrious writing career began in the fourth grade with the blockbuster hit, Super Watermelon Man. Many years later, she evolved into a full-fledged Romantic Suspense author with her first novel, WIDOW'S TALE, which was nominated for a Golden Heart by the Romance Writers of America. A fan of the old Gothic romances, Maureen enjoys the formula of danger, romance, dark cliffs, and sinister houses. All these elements can be found in her romantic thriller, ENDLESS NIGHT. Maureen has now branched out into the Young Adult genre with her Science Fiction Romance, BEYOND.

Take the Time for "Borrowed Time"

5.0 out of 5 stars Take the Time for "Borrowed Time", December 25, 2010 By Dana Taylor (California) Borrowed Time is a solid piece of romantic suspense. Emily Brennan must protect her brilliant, eccentric brother Colin from a greedy military weapons developer. Brian Morrison is the security officer first bent on catching Emily and later protecting her. Maureen Miller does a nice job of weaving the necessary danger elements and the growing attraction between her hero and heroine. I especially enjoy her way with descriptions and mood. The story moves along at a compelling pace to keep the reader wondering what will happen next. The McGuffin of the piece is a high-tech submersible that Colin designed. The technical elements seemed plausible and believable. The back story emotional motivations for the characters also worked and were introduced in bits and pieces along the way. I would have liked to have seen the bad guy go down with a bit more drama, but, all in all, it is a satisfying read. A nice book to cozy up with on a cold winter night. Enjoy.

    Distracting proofing problems

Font varies from very large to very small. Incorrect spelling and word useage. Seems as though many adjectives and adverbs were indiscriminately chosen from a list regardless of whether appropriate.
Could have been interesting story and plot. Most likeable and interesting character was the imaginary Ben.
