Boston Globe Historic Walks in Cambridge

Boston Globe Historic Walks in Cambridge

by John Harris, Janet Knott (Photographer)

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Few American cities have as many historic claims as Cambridge, Massachusetts. America's first printer worked here, its first woman poet wrote here, and its first college was founded here. And consider all the famous names that have been associated in some way with Harvard, Radcliffe, or MIT. The book mentions most of these names (often repetitively) and is the most comprehensive guide to the sites of Cambridge and its universities. Harris is a Harvard alumnus, and he makes sure to tell readers every historic glory (mostly Harvardian) that has occurred here. Unfortunately, the book cannot be comfortably consulted while walking. Nevertheless, Boston area libraries, especially those where Harris's Historic Walks in Old Boston has been popular, will want this. Charles Michaud, Turner Free Lib., Randolph, Mass.
