Overview

From Nicole Flockton, author of Bound by her Ring – the last thing he wants is an emotional attachment to his new assistant, but it might be the only thing he truly needs.

Nick Rhodes has been burned before, so when he hires a new assistant, he has one rule: no emotional attachments. On either side. Pamela Bishop is everything he needs in a professional colleague, and comes with an ironclad guarantee – she absolutely will not fall in love with him.

Pamela Bishop has only one goal in her new job: getting on top of the mountain of debts incurred through her mother’s medical expenses. Jeopardising this chance by falling in love with her arrogant, if handsome, employer is the last thing she would ever do.

But as the lure and romance of New York City surrounds them, and Pamela and Nick find themselves spending more and more time together, they can no longer ignore the attraction flaring between them.

Nick has always lived by his own rules – can he learn to break them in time to grab this one chance at happiness?

Pam and Nick have an explosive chemistry from the very beginning. That draws you like a moth to flame. Pam and Nick both have things that they keep hidden. In my opinion that makes stories even better. You always need that element of confict. This is a great read from start to finish!!

This is the second in the Bound series, following Bound by Her Ring, which I really loved. I didn't love this as much but part of that could be I like reunion romances more than I like the boss/assistant type of romance. Nick Rhodes is a little frustrating as a hero. Not only is he running hot and cold which is pretty hard on your average heroine, but I found his rationalisation of why he was behaving like a first class jerk didn't really strike a chord for me. Pam is a great heroine with her own share of flaws but a big heart. I could believe she would be a good match for Nick. It was nice to see Jasmine and Luc again from the first book and be properly introduced to Jeff from the next book. Overall it was a nice story with more emphasis on the sexual relationship than the previous one. We got to see New York in a touristy way which I enjoyed.

The more heroes protest in the beginning, the harder they fall, but will the heroine be waiting when he figures it out? Nick has found a woman who makes him want...rules be damned. While both characters have baggage, the author doesn't let them get all angsty and aggravating. However I did occasionally want to smack the hero and shout to him that he wasn't his father and to stop being such an ass. And, if you ask my vindictive side, Pam gives into Nick a little too early. But this is just because Ms. Flockton has a way of making you care about the characters. Her characters stay with you long after you've finished the story. Seeing New York through the heroine's Australian eyes for the first time was like seeing it for the first time myself. Looking at iconic places and landmarks I've known my whole life and making them fresh and new again. While characters from book one, Bound By Her Ring, appear here in bit parts, you don't have to have read it first to enjoy this one. It just whets your appetite for book one if you haven't read it (and I have not). Although contemporary romance isn't a favorite genre of mine (not enough supernatural critters in it *grin*), after reading this and Daniel's Decision, Nichole Flockton is on my must read list. Note: Aussie spellings and phrasing here and there.

Bound by His Desire is a sexy fun romance with complex characters dealing with mutli-faceted issues. Pamela Bishop is organized, efficient, and broke. When Nick Rhodes offers her a position as his assistant, she reluctantly accepts. She’s attracted to the wealthy man and a bit concerned as to whether their relationship can remain as strictly professional as Nick seems to want. Nick is also dominating, though Pam shows him early on she will not be pushed around. Nick Rhodes is immediately attracted to his new assistant, but he knows the damage a workplace romance can wreak. He shies away from a romantic involvement with Pam, even as he can’t resist keeping her close and other men away. When the two jet to New York for business, they fall in love amid a fairytale setting of bright lights, carriage rides, and penthouse views. But when the demons of their pasts catch up to them, will they be able to trust each other and their new feelings? This is a sexy read with compelling characters facing real conflicts. It will make you wish you were in New York, especially if Nick Rhodes was there with you.
