The Jeff Resnick series have never let me down. I fell in love with these books from the first. I always feel so bad for Jeff when he has one of his headaches. I think the best thing about Jeff is that he isn't perfect, he has flaws like a regular guy, but he has this incredible gift/curse that manifested after he was mugged and beaten. These books are a must read if you love a great mystery, and if you like your protagonist to be flawed and down to earth.

Unlike the previous books that were told from Jeff's point of view, this story had the distraction of shifting from one character's perspective to another. I thougt it had many unbelievable plot points, weird actions that seemed out of character for Jeff and his brother, and a rather ugly twist (that involves rape) in the conclusion.

Jeff Resnick was hit over the head a year or so ago and he has not been the same. He has unusual effects from this injury that cause him and those who know him concern. In this the fourth book in the series these injuries take him to his limit and into a darkness. The author draws him so well I could feel his pain and I cried for him more than once. I could not put this one down. It is a true page turner with heart.
