Meet the Author

Hi, I’m Lola James, author of Bound to Remember, a Paranormal Romance Novella (Book 1 of the Spellbound Series). I know that readers and writers share the common love of a great story. My stories emanate from my imagination and the fact that I’m a hopeless romantic. I have been reading romance novels since my teens and fell in love with vampires when I read Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles

This seems like it could have been a funny and innteresting story.

However, it contained so many grammatical mistakes and errors in sentence structure, I became frustrated at pg 50 and finally just gave up.

I liked the characters and the story. I liked that it was free.

I liked the characters and the story. I liked that it was free. What I did not like was the fact that there is a total cliffhanger at the end. It's like the author just stopped in order to write another story. The end is very abrupt and a bit confusing. I have read reviews on the sequel and apparently there is another cliff hanger where Toni has to decide who she loves. Not sure I will pursue reading this series.

I once edited a series of books for an author whose first language was not English. This book reads very similarly to those. The story seemed as if it could be interesting, but I just couldn't take all the errors and the stilted writing.

    Good book. Love the idea.

Starts out great. Slowly pulls you into the story. Just when the build was getting into good drama, the author started rushing through the drama. Should've been a longer book. But the author still has great possibilities. Interested in reading more.

    Meh

The stats: 230ish nook pages. Paranormal romance. Needs editing/proofreading. Stopped at page 191 because the story just got weak. Whoever gave it 4-5 stars is really being generous.

    Hello

A 220 page free book, so grammar and punctuation will be an issue. The cheerleader reactions (jumping up and down, giggling, squealing, etc) by doctors and nurses in a hospital is so totally teenager drama and so professional. An adult decision NOT! To go to someones house after just meeting them on peer pressure? A book to read in bed, makes you sleepy with all the dramatics (squeal and hug, jump up and down). Vampires, witches, and evil, dark gods included.

    With some work......

The main problem with the story, at least for me, was the grammatical issues. While I can generally look over a few, this short had me too distracted by them all to get into the story itself. It needed someone to go over it and edit out the misspellings and run on sentences in a huge way.
Other than that its a different and somewhat unique take on vampires though not completely because a few authors now have originated their vampires in greek mythology.
The other thing that bothered me was that it seemed to leave out a lot of necessary detail and skipped over things, leaving me having to reread the paragraphs.
I can't say it was the best but it and the author have potential under the right editor and with a little fine tuning.

    Disappointed

Was hoping for a good read but the grammatical errors, lack of proofreading and just endless prose has me not completing this book. Deleting it.

When I was contacted by the author to do a review, I knew I coul

When I was contacted by the author to do a review, I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I’ve heard great things about her and the book was right up my alley when I read that it involved vampires.

It was just another day at work for Dr. Toni Hollander until Nurse Ben Slaton walks in. They are instantly attracted to one another and she’s ecstatic when she learns she will be his personal tour guide. After seeing the chemistry between the two, Toni’s ex, Kevin, tries to interfere with no luck. Things are really starting to heat up…that is until Toni finds out that Ben is a vampire. With this newly learned information, Ben insists on protecting Toni as he says she is in danger just by associating with him. Toni doesn’t know what to do so she turns to an old college friend, a witch named Annie. Things take a disastrous turn after a visit with Annie leaves Toni in the Underworld.

I really liked Toni. She was a strong, confident doctor until Ben came around. When Ben arrives she turns into jelly, becoming a babbling fool. The way they interact together is a little comical. As for Ben, he kind of creeped me out at first because I was figuring him out as Toni was. He just stares at Toni, looking deep into her eyes for no reason. One minute he’s across the room from her and in the blink of an eye he is beside her. It’s a lot of craziness until I find out that he’s a vampire.

This was a short, fun read. It will capture your interest from the beginning and hold it until the very end. James gives great hints at Ben being a vampire but you still feel like you’re figuring it out piece by piece as Toni does. I love the way she had the characters interacting with one another, especially Ben and Toni’s attraction to each another. There are also some hints at Toni’s family and past that I can’t wait to find out more about. The only problem I had with the story was that it ended in a cliffhanger. I kept trying to turn the page because I couldn’t believe it was over!

I would recommend this book to those who are fans of the paranormal and supernatural, especially those who find vampires appealing. Although classified as an adult read, there isn’t anything overly graphic about it so I think it would be suitable for young adults as well.

    Good read

Aside from the grammatical errors which some who have reviewed the book make it sound unbearable there not that bad it happens to writers who are more seasoned too I'd love for some of the haters on here to try and write with NO mistakes

Really this was a good book and does have a cliffhanger but I just had to get the rest of series bought them all at once then read them back to back there not expensive and worth it keep up the good work I look forward to more I'd like for them to be a little longer though

I loved Fate's Design by Lola James, so I knew I had to read this book. I'm so glad that I followed my gut on this one because I really enjoyed it.

Seriously witches, vampires and greek mythology all in the same book, how can you go wrong. I loved the way the story unfolded, and after this ending, I'm starting on book 2 now. :)
