A Wild and Sensual Ride
When I first approached this book, I was apprehensive, unsure if I would “properly” enjoy the contents of this novel. About a chapter in I was glad to be proven wrong. I was quickly wrapped up into the story of Elise and her deadbeat brother, wondering what sort of trouble he could have possibly gotten himself into.
Starting out like a detective novel, the story quickly evolved into a dynamic tale of a master and his slave; a prize that he had won in game of chance. The story mostly revolves around this struggle, as the slave adjusts to her new life in confinement.
Throughout the story, Elise survives a variety of... encounters, including a visit to the doctor’s, a trip to “school” for training, and a long ride in a car. Each one slowly escalates, concluding with a grand performance on a stage with many others.
Although bleak at times, the story never feels intentionally dark and even has a happy ending. Will definitely read again!
