Editorial Reviews

Lori Twichell
To say I love this series doesn't even cover it. The adventure, the romance, the chivalry, the humor and the (sometimes) terror all continue in Bourne...The only complaint was that this was a novella, and the story over too soon. If I could, I would beg Lisa Bergren to write a sweeping thousand-page chronicle of these girls and their adventures. But even that would probably not be enough.
Madeleine Madeleine
Fans of the River of Time just can't get enough of medieval Italy, hunky knights in shining armor, and the lovable, sassy, sword-wielding, 21st century sisters, Gabi and Lia. Bourne is a tantalizing glimpse into the post-Torrent lives of the beloved Betarrini ‘She-Wolves’ and their handsome knights. Readers will swoon as the romance between Lia and Luca takes center stage...and the story moves into the assassin-filled forests of Tuscany. Fans--old and new--will be left only wanting
Rel Mollet
Honour. Sacrifice. Love. Make no mistake, words such as these are the lifeblood of Lisa T Bergren's River of Time series, and Bourne breathes life once again into the Bettarini sisters, their heroic Italian knights and the enigmatic Lord Rodolfo Greco. Bourne picks up where Torrent left off, as Marcello, Luca and Greco return from battle with physical wounds and emotional scars that are dangerously unseen.
Serena Chase
With rapier sharp wit and a thoroughly romantic cast, Bergren's exceptional story-weaving skills shimmer across the River of Time series. Capturing the same spirit of adventure found in the first three books, Bourne is an absolute gem—romantic fantasy at its addictive best.

Omg! I seriously loved this! I was taken back to the River of Time Series, as if I'd never left. And my dear friends were waiting for me! I was so happy to be drawn into their lives again. Oh Luca! Oh Marcello! Oh my!

This entire series is a MUST read! I urge everyone to read them. I can't wait for #4 Tributary. Yay!

I am so addicted to the River of Time series, to the characters… I devoured Bourne as soon as I got my hands on it! Bourne picks up right where Torrent ends, and in true River of Time fashion, I was immediately taken back to 14th century Italy.

Bourne, unlike the other novels, alternates between Gabi and Lia’s perspectives. I LOVED this… I loved getting to know Lia more, and seeing her and Luca’s relationship from the inside. Also, Lia’s modern day references had me snickering! I really enjoyed seeing more of Grecco in this novella too, and can’t wait for Tributary (book #4, title may not be final) to get more of his story.

I feel like all my reviews for the River of Time books say the same thing… but it’s true… these books are all made up of fantastic story-telling, sweet romance, and action that keeps you glued to the page! This story – these characters – remind you that life is short, a gift, and to look for and hold on to the light/love/hope where you can find it.

Bourne is a fantastic novella – generous in length (1/3 the size of full novel) – and will leave you pining for more. This is a must-read for River of Time fans! -- originally posted on bookandlatte (dot) com

I was so happy when I heard that Lisa Bergren decided to write more River of Time books! I had thought that Torrent was the end, but thankfully I was wrong! I think Bourne might actually be my favorite in the series and that's saying something considering they're all favorites of mine! :D

I loved how there was a lot of Lia and Luca's story (they are my favorite characters) in Bourne. I also really enjoyed how the story's point-of-view changed from Gabi to Lia throughout - it was great getting to see what each sister was thinking.

Bourne is a short novella (about 120 pages), but it didn't seem that short when I was reading it. Right away my emotions were caught when I learned that Marcello had been injured and from there it was just an emotional roller coaster.

While Bourne would probably be great on it's own, I do recommend first reading Waterfall, Cascade, and Torrent. If you enjoy YA, fantasy, and/or romance novels, I think you'll love the River of Time series!

I loved every part of Bourne! I am happily (and somewhat impatiently) waiting for the next River of Time release from Lisa Bergren!

*I received a complimentary pdf copy of this book from the author for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

If you know me, you know just how much I love this series! I heart this
series sooooo much. I swear, I could read it over and over again, and
never get bored with it. So, if you haven't read the series, I suggest
you do. This is short story picking up right after the third installment
called, Torrent. I really loved getting back into the shoes of Gabi.
I missed being in her mind and hearing her thoughts. Being that her life
has changed dramatically since the first book, I'm glad to see the
growth in Gabi. In every decision she makes, she is so much more mature.
She really takes her time and thinks things through. Not mention that
the new role in her life suites her perfectly. I was also happy to see
some development with her sister, Lia. Lia has done much growing up as
well. I'm glad to see her finally facing her feelings, towards someone.
I can't wait to see that fully develop!! Bourne is absolutely perfect.
Just giving the reader the right amount of action mixed with love and
faith, you can't go wrong when reading this. If you have not read this
series, GO NOW! READ IT!!!! With exciting new adventures, Bourne is charming.

I thought that TORRENT was it. I read it thinking, "Man, what a great ending!" And then Ms. Bergren gave us "RIVER FOLK" some more. And I'm so glad she did, no matter how much I wish this book was the size of a full novel. But, hey, I'm not complaining.

BOURNE picks up right where TORRENT left off. So, all our medieval knights are returning after a battle and we find that things aren't as great as we'd hoped. Poor Gabi.

But, don't be discouraged, because Ms. Bergren does what she does best, and takes a seemingly hopeless and devastating situation and turns it around. This isn't to say that the books can't continue. Because they definitely can. But, I'm not sitting in front of my iPad doing all I can to not scream and scare my children.

What I love most about this novella is that we get a little more Lia and Luca. They are just so sweet together! And, I think it's fantastic that we get to know Luca a little bit better. He really is a tease with a huge sensitive side. I can't resist that. And, I'm hoping Lia can't either. So, for those of you Lia and Luca fans, this one will make you happy. After the Gabi/Marcello story (which STILL isn't over), it's nice to see these two get their time in the spotlight. Their romance is a completely different kind than Gabi and Marcello's. And I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

I can’t get enough of Lisa’s River of Time Series. Each book she writes in this series is another refreshing read.
I was happy to discover we got to know Lia better in this story. Of course Gabi was also present and the handsome knights we became to love in the previous three books.
This book is full action and dangers for the sisters—like we got used to in Waterfall, Cascade and Torrent. If you enjoyed those books, then BOURNE is not to be missed!

    River of time series: Bourne

Another great book! Once again I was caught up in the action, the characters, and the overall plot of the book. I like how the characters are progressing and developing as the story continues. I can't wait to read the next book, Tributary.

I absolutely love the whole River of Time series, and I was so glad Lisa Bergren decided to write an enovella. I am so addicted to this series and it my favorite series ever {trust me I've read a lot of books} and I really wish she would write more books. I have read the entire series twice and I know I'll read it again. Please read the series in order though Waterfall, Cascade, Torrent, Bourne you won't regret reading them. This series has something in it for everyone, adventure, suspense, time travel {which I normally don't like but is great in this book}, Italy {love books in other countries}, and romance.
The charachters are amazing in this book and series, and they seem so real. Gabriella and Marcello Forelli { I love that name, great guy} are so perfect together.

I absolutely adore The River of Time Series and was excited when I saw that there was an addition to the series. While Bourne is a short read, it is not short in any other way. There is no lack of storyline or emotion in this novella. In the moments where Gabi and Lia are tense or experiencing something strongly, I was right there with them, holding my breath. Bourne is not written as an afterthought, but the story contained within these few pages has a fully realized plot line. My only sadness with this book is that The River of Time Series has truly come to an end…or has it? Maybe fans of the series can convince the author to continue writing tales so rich in history, romance, action, and adventure! I just want more and more!!!

Oh. My. I. LOVE. This. Series!!! I cannot tell y'all that enough

Oh. My. I. LOVE. This. Series!!! I cannot tell y'all that enough. This is my favorite series of all time. Everyone needs a book, even better when it's a series, that really resonates with them. These books have everything I love. The setting in the middle ages in Italy is beautiful. I love that the main characters are also modern because of the accidental time travel so I can really relate to Gabi and Lia when they think things in the Middle Ages are difficult, strange, or out of their comfort zones. I can rave about the entire series all day, but let me get more specific to this book now.

This book is a novella which means it's 1/3 the length of a normal novel. This was the only part of the book that made me sad . . . that it ended. I can read and re-read these books all day. It was also our first time to hear from Lia's Point Of View. In the first 3 books we'd only heard from Gabi. I love Lia so it was great fun to hear from her. I look forward to the next book, Tributary, which I think will be all from Lia.

I love the romance and the romantic tension between the characters. Lia and Luca, Gabi and Marcello, Rodolfo and . . . any woman who looks at him. The kissing in this book is most definitely swoon worthy. The characters are so sweet and respectful, I just love it. I liked seeing a different side of Luca this time with more of a leadership role. He also showed some jealously and anger we hadn't seen from him before. It made me like him even more to see more of him, and of course I still love his humor.

This book is great! Everyone who read the first three in the series needs to read it. If you love to immerse yourself in a great book, this series is for you.

    Happy Reading!
