Even though I have been boxing for six years this book had an abundance of information. First of all it isn't like all other boxing training books where most of the book is workouts and training on the heavy bag, speed bag, and such. This book goes straight to the clashing bone and sinew of boxing. Concentrating on various punches and combinations and ring strategies. This book also has new material on boxing techniques that outdates and improves on former techniques. Most of the material in this book cannot be done by ones self and a sparring/ training partner will be needed to get the most out of this book. Although I have used it in solo training to improve my boxing skills. If you are going to use this book in solo training the chapter that most sticks out is the chapter on punch combinations. This chapter goes from a two punch combo all the way to five or six punch combos, using every different type of punch described in the book. I would recommend this book to people who want to take their boxing skills to the next level in the ring, and not just use the sport of boxing to get into shape and look good. Go to a cardio kickboxing class or something for that. Because the real guts and glory of boxing is in the ring throwing the punches, taking the punches, and trying to out smart, out maneuver, and ultimately out box the man/ woman across from you. This book gives you an understanding of why boxing really is the sweet science.
