THIS BOOK HAS BEEN REFORMATTED TO FIT THE NOOK BETTER.
Children ages 4-7 love to pretend that they are the bear or the boy as they practice deep breathing. This effective stress and anger management technique is widely accepted and used by both traditional and holistic communities. The technique focuses on belly breathing also known as diaphragmatic breathing. Breathing is calming and can have a positive impact on your child’s health and immune system. It can lower stress and anxiety levels. It can be used to decrease pain and anger. This is the first story I wrote to help my son fall asleep. Breathe Deeply!

Sea Otter Cove available on our website is the newer story teaching children diaphragmatic breathing with friendly sea otters.

Editorial Reviews

Our lives and even those of our children are very hectic today. Lori Lite's books are simple yet teach our overly stimulated children to relax. Lori Lite has reminded us of the importance of creating a loving environment for our children and preparing them for stress management for the future.
Industry Trade Mag - Trudy Sprunk
"I highly recommend Lori Lite's book and feel it is a significant contribution to the well-being of all children."

I was at my wits end with putting my 5 year old to sleep. My neighbor recommended "A Boy and A Bear" to me and I couldn't believe the results. My son was finally able to calm himself down and get rid of his anxiety and fears. The way the boy shows the bear to do belly breathing is brilliant! I didn't know how to breathe for relaxation myself but it didn't matter. This book did all the work for me and I even learned how to breathe myself. I highly recommend this book for all children.

    Best Relaxation story ever

I use this story in all of my classes. The children love to breathe with the characters. It is amazing to watch them go from high energy to completely relaxed. Every child should be introduced to breathing for relaxation and anxiety management. This is the easiest way I have ever seen.

    Simple and Sweet!

I'm a therapist, so this was exactly what I needed to share with my younger patients! Relaxation in terms they can understand!

    Finally

My child is hyperactive and it takes hours to get her to sleep. I have heard about these books but waited to finally buy it. What a great choice. Both my child and I are more peaceful after we ready this book. I wish I had these when I was a child.

Wow, Finally my kid can sleep

This is the first book that I have read my child where he was sleeping by the end of the story. My child has problems sleeping and this book is great. It relaxed him the first time I read it and he was asleap by the end of the second time. I'm going to tell all my friends.

Recommended for our son, but helped me personally.

Our 9 year old son was recently diagnosed with OCD and extreme Anxiety. His psychologist recommended this among other books. I was familiar with the authors work after hearing about "Indigo Dreams" from my cousin. This "story" is really a guided relaxation. On advice from the psychologist, we read it out loud to our son every night before he goes to bed. No matte what his day was like, he goes to bed more relaxed than ever before. One side benefit is I also feel very relaxed after reading this, nice way to end the day. I am planning on purchasing more books in this series. The Affirmation books will probably be next. After the relaxation success of The Boy and The Bear, I am confident they will help with his self esteem.

    It actually works!

This book is wonderful! I have a very energetic four year old and settling down at bedtime was often a major challenge but this has helped so much. He loves watching his little belly fill with air as we follow along with the little boy and bear. It even helps me unwind after a long day!
