Overview

Melanie Porter has been dumped—again. When others accuse her of “being in love with being in love,” she agrees to let her best friend, Patti, step in and direct her dating life with The Boyfriend Bylaws.

EXCERPT:

Rule #1: No giving out your phone number until approved to do so.

Rule #2: Must obtain permission to accept any date invitation.

Rule #3: No bringing up marriage, kids or the future.

Rule #4: No going to first base without authorization.

Amended Rule #4: No going to first base, or any other base, without authorization.

Rule #5: No scribbling your first name with some guy’s last name. Ever.

Rule #6: New rules may be added as Patti Hartley deems necessary.

Memorize it, live by it, and happy dating!

. . . .

“His name is Nick,” I said. “He seems like a total gentleman, not to mention he’s insanely gorgeous. Can I get permission to go on a date with him before he asks me out?”

Patti scoffed, stretched her leg out, and reached for her right foot. “No way.”

Why did she have to be so difficult? I was playing by her rules. “What’s the point of waiting until he asks me out, and then calling you? That’s just stupid.”

“Why should you wait? Let’s see. Brad. Paul. Mike. Marcus. And don’t think I didn’t see the wink your co-worker, Matt, gave you at lunch today.”

It was a cute short story. Even though I had a idea on how it would end I still enjoyed reading it. I love that it was a clean read!

    Great Story!

This was a very cute short story. The characters are cute and quirky. From the very beginning you get sucked into their lives and the way they do everything. Perhaps it's just the way the friends interact, but it just makes you remember the fun parts of being single. Melanie is a classic marriage-obsessed character that is cute and fun. I didn't want this to end, especially since there were a couple side stories that didn't seem to quite get resolved. But it was definitely a light and fun read to make you smile.

    Loved this book!

I absolutely loved reading this book by Susan Hatler. The storyline was great and I felt I was there with the characters. I wish this book was longer as I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book for a fun fast read!

    Fun and Witty Romance!

Melanie is a young woman with lots of great things going for her. She teaches classes at the Totally Fit gym and has finally saved up enough money for her dream car. However, she hasn't been as lucky in the romance department. After dating one lame guy too many, her best friend decides to lay down "The Boyfriend Bylaws" or rules that will help Melanie find "The One".

The Boyfriend Bylaws is a fun and witty read! I loved Melanie's character and the back-and-forth banter and antics between her and her Totally Fit co-workers. I wanna work out at their gym!

I only wish the story had been longer. I wanted to know more of Melanie's backstory and what happened to some of the minor characters. Otherwise, I enjoyed it and I will be checking out more of Susan Hatler's work in the future!

    Hilarious and sweet romance

Having trouble finding Mr. Right? You need the Boyfriend Bylaws!

This was a sweet and humorous story about a young lady trying to find Mr Right! I really got a kick out of Melanie's bad dating habits. This story reminded me of that movie "How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days" where the main character does everything wrong in a relationship. This was how this short story went! Some parts of the book had me laughing out loud!

I thought the characters were well thought out and very loveable! I loved Melanie and her friendship with her roommate right from the start and her friend from the gym Matt was so sweet! I thought it was a bit too sexual at times with the way Melanie planned her lingerie and her talk of sex but then again some of that was just too funny not to laugh! I feel like this story could have went a lot longer because there was so much goodness there that it could have developed even further but for a simple enjoyable read this hit the spot! I received a copy of The Boyfriend Bylaws for free by Susan for my honest review of the book!

    Delightful & Fun!

As much as I hate to admit this, I need a Patti of my own when I was in my early 20's! This book was a hoot, and I loved it! Many of us grew up on fairy tales, and somehow didn't learn that it's okay to be alone; that we don't need a man to fulfill our purpose in life. That falling in love is the be all and end all of everything. And this was our dear, sweet Mealanie. She was determined to find her Mr. Right, and she was in love WITH love. And she was in love the first week of dating!
Thank goodness for best friends who are very self-secure and know what's best for you. Melanie is a treasure, a delight, and has me laughing out loud at her antics!
This book is wonderful and will pick up your spirits and give you a great feeling about yourself, your good friends, and all of those loser bozo's that weren't worth your time back in the day. At least they are probably good for a chuckle now, right ;-)
Thank you, Susan, for the best laugh I've had in a long time! Kudos!
