    Great for Traveling

We took this book for our 6 1/2 year old boy, on a driving trip to the Mt Rushmore. It took 2 days of lots of driving and he was so busy with this book, that he was hardly got bored. He loved the themes of the pages. I would love to buy a book 2.

    Wonderful outlet for self expression

My grandson is interested in drawing. This book gave him an outlet in which he could use his imagination. Rather than just coloring a picture, or following directions on how to draw something, he was given a background and then given free rein to draw his own ideas.
I think this is an excellent book for young and old to use to explore their own creative drawing abilities in a fun way!

    My son loves his

I bought this as a little gift for my 7 year old son and he wasn't interested at all. But when I showed him all of the neat pictures that he would finish creating he thought it was the greatest thing.

Way more fun than a blank page!

My son is almost 9. He doesn't like anything about having a pencil in his hand, writing, drawing, nothing. I try to find things that will improve the experience. This book was a winner! His older brother received one and then little brother wanted one. Once he got it, he raced through completing the pictures, imagining bits of storyline, adding captions. The amount already in the book balances nicely with the amount the doodler is left to complete. My son is quite proud of some of the drawings; they gave him a chance to display his quirky sense of humor. He is starting to think in terms of his ability to tell a story with his drawing, not so much how well he can draw. This book celebrates that approach. It's not a How-To book but a Why-Not book. Many drawing books "teach" and tend to discourage the self-critical child who cannot produce the drawing the illustrator demonstrates. The Boys' Doodle Book helps focus the imagination and provides the springboard for a fantastic exploration of creativity. Kids won't learn much about how to draw, because they already know as much as they need to for this book; they just need encouragement to enjoy themselves doing it.

A LITTLE HELP FOR YOUNG ARTISTS....

Any artist, old or young, will tell you that sometimes there's nothing more terrifying than a blank piece of paper. Creative verve can dry up when faced with the bleak, unyielding whiteness of an empty canvas. That's what makes Doodle books so AWESOME!!! Each page has an incomplete drawing that invites the child to express himself. What's inside the treasure chest? Gold and diamonds are boring.... how about cheeseburgers? Or nanobots? What does your space pet look like? A poodle? An iguana? Aunt Martha? The Boys Doodle Book has pages and pages of fun art-starts like this. Start making room on your frig NOW! - - Mary Tills, Barnes and Noble, Frederick, Maryland.

    Super Fun and very Funny

I bought this book for an eight year old boy who has an active imagination. He loved it! The scenarios are very funny and allow the reader/doodler to use his imagination to draw funny pictures. I would buy this book again when my son is old enough for it.
