An intriguing story of a boy named Marcus, whose time on Earth is overseen by the Watchers. Marcus is an interesting character that has unique abilities because of his ties with the Watchers. These abilities, however, do not overshadow his ability to be a boy and blend in as any other. Most memorable in this story is the friendship between Marcus, Brad and Joel. Despite their cruel and devious antics toward each, their bond is unwavering and appears to transcend time. Though I didn’t want to connect with this group of boys because of their disturbing behavior toward others, it was in those rare moments of genuine emotion between them that I couldn’t help but feel connected. A well written story and must read! You won’t be disappointed.

I don't usually read fantasy type fiction but was intrigued by the plot. Turns out most of the book takes place in the early 80's and follows the boys as they train and create a small army. The boys are insane, cruel beyond words and the boy with the powers does some bad things, but with good intentions. It was a fun story and easy to read and I will read the sequel books as I am interested to find out what the future holds. Check it out.

Overview
The early 1980s were a peaceful time in rural America. The conflict in Vietnam may have ended, but for many children of US veterans, future wars against the enemies of freedom seemed all but certain.
A few kids vowed to prepare themselves.
