. . . when is Harlequin finally going to hire copy editors that speak the language of the authors' foreign-born heroes? Especially Italian and Greek. The noun "tesoro" (treasure) is masculine gender whether the speaker is calling a man or a woman his treasure. "My treasure" is always "lo mio tesoro" even when spoken by a man about a woman. "Cara" and "caro," on the other hand, mean "my female dear one" and "my male dear one," respectively. Therefore "mia cara" and "mio caro" are correct. Somebody send the copy editor to a Latin languages night class, for pity's sake.

This author is an excellent writer so if you want something a little above the ordinary love story I would recommend any of hers. This is a delightful story of tenderness and love, one that I will archive to read again in the future.

I¿ve been a fan of this writer for years, and this is one of her best books ever. Gabriel Brabanti can buy just about anything he wants, except his baby. But when he falls in love with Eve, the baby¿s aunt, he thinks she¿ll be the key to him getting to keep his little girl. The trouble is, Eve is loyal to her cousin who¿s the baby¿s mother. So when she realizes what Gabriel¿s up to, she turns against him. There are a lot of lies behind this story, and both the hero and heroine get badly hurt because of them, but he¿s not somebody she can forget, and in the end she fights her way back to him. Have a box of tissues ready when you read this one. It¿s a tear jerker.

Catherine Spencer has produced another winner with The Brabant Baby. Vivid, likeable characters sustain reader empathy as they logically and maturely work their way through the conflicts threatening their relationship. Great writing, a keen sense of place, and wonderful story telling set this book apart from the crowd. The hero's tenderness with the baby makes both the heroine and the reader fall in love with him. This author is still able to bring a fresh voice to romance novels.
