All Music Guide - Andrew Leahey
With 2007's Riot!, Paramore proved that pop hooks and a killer set of pipes can still vault a band to platinum status, economic downturn be damned. Success comes with a price, though, and Paramore struggled as media outlets reserved most of their coverage for Hayley Williams, deemed by many to be the group's leader. Rather than calling it quits, the musicians sought therapy in the studio, where tales of self-doubt and frustration were captured on tape by mega-producer Rob Cavallo. The anthemic, celebratory songs that made Riot! so appealing were largely absent, but the band found a new way to rock during those sessions, prizing catharsis and nuanced arrangements above the hooks of albums past. Released in late 2009, Brand New Eyes presents Paramore as a stronger, leaner, and altogether more consistent band. "Careful" and "Ignorance" are two of the group's most aggressive tunes to date, and the rest of the disc follows suit, with the guitar interplay of Josh Farro and Taylor York who makes his studio debut here, having joined the lineup after Riot! was recorded receiving much of the spotlight. Drummer Zac Farro anchors the band with a flurry of snare hits and cymbal crashes, but the true MVP is none other than Ms. Williams, who sings with all the gusto of an angsty, 21st century Ann Wilson. She's fun, fiery, and altogether fantastic, a pint-sized powerhouse who attacks everyone from holier-than-thou naysayers "Playing God" to egocentric space cadets "Brick by Boring Brick". Williams also tones down the sonic assault whenever it's appropriate, offering a beautifully understated vocal during the album's centerpiece ballad, "The Only Exception," and championing the band's longevity during songs like "Where the Lines Overlap" and "Looking Up." "God knows the world doesn't need another band," she sings during the latter track, "but what a waste it would have been...I can't believe we almost hung it up. We're just getting started." Riot! explored similar thoughts with its closing track, "Born for This," but "Looking Up" is made all the more convincing by the band's recent turmoil. Accordingly, Brand New Eyes is the band's most credible album to date, a blend of melody and muscle that packs a punch in spite of its tumultuous origin.

I'm a classically trained musician and I just love the construction of the music. Hayley's voice is strong, controlled, crisp and the lyrics are clear. The precision of the supporting instrumentalists is remarkable. No one part overshadows any other and transitions between sections of the songs flow. This is a technically superb group.

When Will They Bury The Castle?

    Let's bury the castle...
This is my favorite album by Paramore. It's amazing, and if you love some punk rock, epicness, or some deep, meaningful ballads, you will make love to this album. I truly adore this album. All I Wanted was this. Yes, I made a pun off of their song. That's because of how deft this album is. Such skill in music they have. It's amazing.

    I Like!

In comparison, I still like Paramore's album Riot a bit better, but this album is also very good. I haven't been listening to a Paramore for too awful long. I only first heard them back on Guitar Hero World Tour & wasn't very familiar with them, but I grew to really like them, and this new album of theirs is really good. If you like rock or plain just love women who rock, (which Haily Williams totally does), then definitely check out this album, or any of Paramore's albums. Good stuff folks!

hayley williams can not sing at all

this band was getting to sound more like the gods that are metallica then hayleys singing comes in and destroys each and every song they made on the past 2 albums and this album and when you hear hayleys singing its like listening to a a dying cow begging for help this album was good but hayley williams has destroyed this band image with her singing

    My Favorite Band

I love this band I found out about them about two years age and since then i've loved them. My favorite album from the was "All We Know Is Falling" the songs were awesome from start to finish. "Riot" was good had its handful of good songs but not by far as good as AWKIF. When I heard about "Brand New Eyes" I got really excited finally a new paramore album! When i got and listened to it i loved it the songs are good they have meaning and the acoustics are probly two of my favroites off the album you get to see a calmer side of paramore my favorite track off the album is probly Misguided Ghosts its nice and soft and realateable but so are most of the songs off this album. Wether i could call it there best work they've done so far I'm not sure but it was defintly better then "Riot" if it was better then AWKIF I'd have to be a little biased there since that is my favorite ablbum from them, but ranking all three albums "Brand New Eyes" is my second favroite of there album. It shows that the band has grown up not as many "i broke up with my boyfriend" more about the issues of growing up facing what we don't want to and learing things won't always stay the way we'd like them to. Paramore has grown as a band and it shown in this album. They did a great job for there third album and I hope they continue there music because there great. If you like paramore before i think you will like this album and if not give it a chance they are a good band.
