Barnes & Noble - David McGee
SheDaisy's holiday offering isn't your typical cuddly, sentimental Christmas fare. The sisters Osborne -- Kristyn, Kelsi, Kassidy -- and their producer, Dann Huff, drop in musical quotes from virtually every style of contemporary popular music -- jittery hip-hop rhythms, wailing rock guitars, soaring pop strings, tight country harmonies, R&B vocal inflections -- in fashioning a Yuletide album that heads for the edge. The insistent, pounding drums and jangly electric guitars backing the trio's smooth harmonizing on "The Secret of Christmas" may not be what Tin Pan Alley giants Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen had in mind when they wrote the song for Bing Crosby's 1959 ...

SheDaisy's holiday offering isn't your typical cuddly, sentimental Christmas fare. The sisters Osborne -- Kristyn, Kelsi, Kassidy -- and their producer, Dann Huff, drop in musical quotes from virtually every style of contemporary popular music -- jittery hip-hop rhythms, wailing rock guitars, soaring pop strings, tight country harmonies, R&B vocal inflections -- in fashioning a Yuletide album that heads for the edge. The insistent, pounding drums and jangly electric guitars backing the trio's smooth harmonizing on "The Secret of Christmas" may not be what Tin Pan Alley giants Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen had in mind when they wrote the song for Bing Crosby's 1959 film Say One for Me, but the Osbornes' heartfelt singing makes the fusion work. Disparate styles come together effectively on Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" and especially on the feisty, propulsive "Santa's Got a Brand New Bag" (one of four originals on the album cowritten by Kristyn Osborne). For traditionalists, there's a reverent take on "What Child Is This," and an atmospheric evocation of the seasonal spirit in the sweet harmonies and children's choruses on Leslie Bricusse's "Christmas Children." For taking the road less traveled, SheDaisy have earned an extra-special set of gifts from Santa.
All Music Guide - Maria Konicki Dinoia
The Osborn sisters and producer Dan Huff put a new spin on holiday music and put some funk in Christmas. Anything but country, Brand New Year is truly a treat for all music listeners. The incomparable harmonies of Kristyn, Kassidy, and Kelsi grace every song on the 12-song collection of new and old holiday music. But the Osborn sisters give their own delicious sound to tradition. "Deck the Halls," "Jingle Bells," and "Sleigh Ride" have all been consecrated with the melodious sound that is uniquely SheDaisy. And the girls give the Andrews Sisters a run for their money on "Santa's Got a Brand New Bag," sounding much like "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." Although Christmas albums generally do little to further a career, SheDaisy better be prepared -- Brand New Year is sure to be under every tree, making them a household name.

    A reviewer

The SheDaisy Christmas CD is wonderful. The best recreation of classic Christmas songs you love and new ones that rock. It's worth the money to buy it.

I can hardly wait for Christmas.

This is my favorite Christmas CD. A great mix of songs--some classics, some their own. The sisters have wonderful harmonies and the arrangements are fun (check out ''Jingle Bells''). So many Christmas CD's have a couple good songs and a bunch of dogs, not so here. I don't know how I'd pick a favorite--''Jingle Bells,'' ''Santa's Got a Brand New Bag,'' ''Tinseltown,'' ''That's What I Want for Christmas,'' ''Secret of Christmas,'' ''Twist of the Magi.'' Just thinking about it...I can hardly wait for Christmas.

    A Uniquely Enjoyable Holiday Experience

Not only has this CD become my favorite Christmas CD, but it has become one of the favorite CD's in my collection. The sisters offer an entertaining mix of traditional standards and new releases, performing each in their own unique style. I have continued to listen to this disk well after the Christmas tree has been put away.

    Good album!

This is a very good album, I like most of the cuts on it. I especially am impressed by their original songs. I LOVE ''Tinseltown'', and hearing Rascal Flatts in ''Twist of the Magi'' is just spectacular!
