Overview

The Funk Soul Brother was America's best friend in 1999, and they didn't hesitate to greet the jovial dance master (neé Norman Cook) globally known as Fatboy Slim. Brassic Beats USA, a compilation featuring some of Britain's eclectic dance acts such as Lo-Fidelity All Stars, Space Raiders, and Indian Ropeman, pays homage to the label that introduced Fatboy Slim to the U.S., Skint Records. Electronic music was heavily promoted by the fast rise of Fatboy Slim and other artists in the Skint scene, and Brassic Beats USA is a celebration of that contribution. Brighton local Damian Harris started Skint in 1994, but he too is a dance music guru who goes by the name Midfield General, contributing the hip-hop tub-thumping clip "Devil In Sports Casual." The electrifying juggernaut from the Lo-Fidelity All Stars "Puppy Phat Number One" is a wild trip into the cosmic consciousness. Super_Collider's "Darn (Cold Way O' Lovin')" is a sultry cut spiraling into R&B loops and amplified reverberation. Space Raiders are hysterical, sampling glam-disco drops and blues
ock & roll legend Fats Domino. "(I Need the) Disco Doktor" muffles with old-school scratching and glittery dance vibes. Other Skint mates such as Cut La Roc and Dr. Bone also lend their own funkdafied soul and scuffing, for remixing is an obvious art. Brassic Beats USA is right about now -- brash and classic!
