Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Vincent F Carr, DO, MSA, FACC, FACP (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences)
Description: This is a preparation book for those studying for the Family Medicine Board Certification examination. The 1,000 generic questions with answers cover all the specialties that comprise the family medicine areas of study.
Purpose: Although the stated purpose is to prepare residents for the examination, the book is an interesting guide for self-assessment for anyone who wishes to test their general medical knowledge.
Audience: The audience is primarily those preparing for the examination. The author is a well known, practiced physician.
Features: The book begins with how to prepare for and take the test. The book uses a quick read format with the questions and answers on the same page, arranged in columns so the answers can be covered while reading the questions.
Assessment: This may be a help in studying for the boards, but readers cannot rely solely on this type of book as the waterfront is much more expansive than what is presented here.
